Did you know that Andøya Space is not only about rockets going to space? In 2021, Andøya Space acquired a Diamond DA62 MPP for scientific research, technology demonstrations, maritime surveillance, and various other types of missions. On International Pilots’ Day, we celebrate the crew operating the aircraft in the skies around Andøya. Dag Helge Karlsen at Andøya Space explains: ‘It can accommodate four people on board: two pilots for flying the aircraft and two mission specialists who operate the equipment and instruments used for research or testing.’ Learn more about the aircraft and its services here: https://lnkd.in/dG_4ngt3

The JCO plans to begin prototyping specific C-sUAS proposals in 2025, based on the capabilities and needs of combatant commanders. The next C-sUAS demonstration is scheduled for the second and third quarters of fiscal year 2025. Compared to previous demonstrations held between 2021 and 2023, the latest test showed significant improvements in speed and threat recognition by the vendors' systems.

Hey LinkedIn 😎 I don't post enough here, but figured this is a perfect opportunity! To the Type A observer, my career probably looks like an unfocused pursuit of shiny desires without a sustained dedication to a singular industry. To that Type A observer: Kudos—you ain't wrong. But there's a thread-through if you dig deeper. My professional career has been defined by pivotal moments in my personal, professional, and political life. Sometimes it's not clear whether to stay the path; other times, continuing is the only path. Sometimes all empirical evidence is shouting "Zig, dammit!" And sometimes the universe cackles and sprinkles a ten ton Zag. Sometimes you spend a 9 month season in black, busted open Air Force 1's, bussing tables and waking up every morning on a deflated air mattress on hardwood floors in a Harlem apartment, crafting a songwriting syllabus with *zero* concrete plans of where or how to implement it, and definitely zero knowledge that months later you'd be selected to be a teaching artist fellow at Columbia University as a result of that same syllabus. Sometimes you get selected to be a teaching artist fellow on the exact same day that you find out you're going to be a travel host for Rolling Stone magazine. To the Type A observer, I clearly need to "pick a lane." Stay ten toes down. Keep my eye on the prize. But the Type B observer probably understands the prize: I'm a maker, a sharer, and a collaborator. The "prize" has always been a robust expression of my ideas, packaged professionally at the highest level available to me. Songwriting as a craft allows me to say what is true, to present it with a goal of greatness, and to share it with the world alongside generous collaborators. I'm an award winning copywriter because it allows me to say what is true, to present it with a goal of greatness, and to share it alongside generous collaborators. I'm a voice actor, script writer, songwriting school founder, recording artist, and on camera presenter because they're all ways to express what is true, present it with a goal of greatness, and share with the world alongside generous collaborators. To my Type A readers: I have so much to learn from you. I admire your focus toward difficult ends. I deeply respect your upholding of standards and boundaries. In the right conditions, we make an unstoppable team. Next week I’ll be "Zagging", and will be honored to represent Greensboro, NC's creative class at the Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Celebration at Tanger Center, where I'll be encouraging collaboration between our business and creative classes. Script writing, on camera presenting, voice acting, live performing—and now—public speaking: it's been a joyous amalgamation of long-running storylines with a full circle hometown twist on the city's best stage. Huge thank you to Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and Twin City Media for the collaboration and opportunity. If you're a Chamber member, go get tickets! You won't wanna miss it!
Greensboro is place that you’re proud to call home, and it’s no secret our community is growing – set to be a powerhouse in manufacturing, aerospace, and more. But a city without people is just a dot on the map. Join us next week at the Annual Celebration to see the rest of this incredible piece by Twin City Media, a special performance by Afika Nxumalo, and to celebrate what makes Greensboro, Greensboro. Tickets still available at Greensboro.org/events

Posted by a colleague. The conversation on tiltrotor hasn't much crept into discourse downunder yet. Why should it matter? The US Army has selected the tiltrotor Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) to augment and replace Blackhawks from 2031, with 160th SOAR announcing they will follow from 2034. The USN and USMC are also looking at tiltrotor options (manned and unmanned) as a possible replacement for Seahawks and UH-1Y/Z. The helicopter (it was a Huey) changed how Army manoeuvres during the Vietnam War, with the advent of airborne cavalry - accelerating units from walking/driving speed to 120mph, able to route directly over obstacles for a distance (radius) of nearly 150 miles. Technology has improved helicopter performance in the intervening 60 yrs - but only incrementally. The latest Blackhawk cruises about 50mph faster with a radius of 200 miles. No matter how gucci the blades, the laws of physics limit helicopter speed, due to the way lift is produced by rotors which are themselves spinning close to limits. But the demand for VTOL capability continues to increase, and US Army has set its sights on speed and range to outpace all adversaries. Tiltrotor combines the VTOL characteristics of a helicopter with the straight wing properties of a turboprop.

🛥️ We are embarking on an increasingly rapid adoption of autonomous vessels. 💡 How can we ensure that technology adoption, regulation and training evolve in parallel to keep operations safe? I’ve had the privilege of joining a roundtable facilitated by the team at SeaBot Maritime at HMNB Portsmouth this afternoon. So much to think about, and it was great to hear the varied and pertinent viewpoints around the room as tests, trials and demonstrations begin to extend capability and start the progression to Autonomy becoming widely adopted. This is essential for defence, for national security, and to enable the continued volume of trade that travels by sea. Many challenges to overcome - but a positive step. #PTBK #EmbraceTheDarkSide #MaritimeEnterpriseEngagement

Silvus Connect Germany Showcase: Dismounted Operators 👉 Part of the Silvus Connect Germany presentation on 23 October are several Live Scenarios / Demonstrations showing the latest technology in action. We arrange a tactical demonstration at the airfield to showcase advanced military and law enforcement technologies. The scenario will demonstrate a situation where an adversary is trying to interfere with communications or remotely control equipment, thus being detected and neutralized by a technical team. This specialized tactical team is equipped with state-of-the-art communication and surveillance technologies. It will demonstrate a coordinated approach to secure and enter the area and apprehend the suspect. This operation will highlight the integration of mesh network communications, unmanned systems, and a mobile command centre in managing a complex tactical situation. 📌 Not registered yet?
