If you ask the American Legion Riders who participate in them, one of the highlights of the Legacy Run is when schoolchildren come out along the route en masse to cheer on the motorcycles as they pass. #LegacyRun2024

Last week I participated in an Arizona Council On Economic Education Financial Fitness in Action event at Arizona Cardinals Prep Academy. If you haven't volunteered in one of these events, you are missing out! It's so much fun interacting with the students and helping them understand what it means to budget and really get them thinking about their future as young adults. ❤️ #ACEE #wafdbank #FinancialFitness #FinancialEducation #studentsuccess #lovewhatyoudo #budgeting #FinancialLiteracy

An August Challenge for you🚴🏽♀️ You can either walk, run or wheel 31 miles (1 mile per day) in August. For wheelchair users, you can use your wheelchair or an adaptive cycle🤗 We know that 31 miles is a big ask for anyone, that’s why there’s plenty of flexibility in this challenge, as we’ve tried to make it as accessible as possible. You decide how you reach your mileage💙 Adaptive cycles can be anything from a fixed wheel tricycle, to a handcycle, to an electric assisted wheelchair transporter. This will all depend on an individuals’ circumstance and what they know is achievable for them. Miles can be counted whether it’s a set cycle session or you’re using your wheelchair to commute. You set up a fundraising page, count your miles and get some lovely people to sponsor you for Seashell🥰 Wheels For All are a brilliant organisation that host community sessions you can join, where they have access to cycles like this 🙌🏼 At Seashell, we also have these cycles that you can use on our inclusive cycle track🚴🏽♀️🚴🏼 Once you sign up for the challenge, you can see more information and can join a Facebook group for your specific challenge. This will include access to a training sheet, which will include lots of handy tips📝 Any questions - feel free to drop me a message.
We've launched our new CHALLENGE 31 and we need you to get involved. Throughout August we're asking Seashell supporters to Run 31, Walk 31 or Wheel 31 during the 31 days in August. This means committing to running 31 miles, walking 10,000 steps every day (adding up to 310,000 steps for the month) or completing 31 miles in your wheelchair. However you choose to do Challenge 31, we have advice and support to get you over the finish line. Sign up now! Daily Journaling Devotional -- Daily Word - Relay Race Boats generate wakes. You have seen this and perhaps even felt it if you have been wading near the shore or been in a small boat when a large boat passes by. Do you see a larger scale application of this concept? A spiritual one? There have been spiritual movements throughout history that have influenced all that came after them. As a result you don’t have to recreate the whole structure of doctrine and church government from scratch. You have the benefit of those who have gone before you to build roads and cities and also to build churches and cathedrals. In a relay race every member of the team contributes to the effort in sequence. Now you are carrying the baton. Will you run your race well for the benefit of those who come after you?

This program teaches an important survival skill - how to swim! Way to go Loyola swimming and diving!
Volunteers from Loyola University Maryland Men and Women's Swim Teams have been making a splash in the community for over 10 years! The H2O Hounds Program is a free swim lesson initiative based at our Fitness and Aquatic Center for area youth. Youth are provided free swim gear and swag bags. We're proud to have enrolled 30 youth from Govans Elementary, Walter P. Carter Elementary/Middle schools, and the Dewees and Northwood Recreation Centers. Today marked the end of the season, and we're grateful for the leadership of swimmers Patrick Hayburn and Remi Shaw, as well as the efforts of our Transform Mid-Atlantic AmeriCorps VISTA member Cierra B. and team member Chevera McClean. Thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of our local youth! #communityimpact #youthengagement

Day 112 of 366: Community and Camaraderie at the Run Army Event 🏃♂️🎖️ Today, over 10,000 participants took to the streets in Brisbane, Townsville, and across the globe for the Run Army event, featuring both 5km and 10km runs. This event isn’t just a test of endurance; it’s a powerful demonstration of support for our serving members, veterans, and the wider community. A Day of Unity and Support: Run Army’s goal is to deliver a world-class event that fosters an unrivaled partnership and shows unwavering support for those who dedicate their lives to our protection. It’s a unique opportunity for the community to run shoulder to shoulder with our defenders in a spirit of fun and camaraderie. On the Ground with Run With: I attended the event to promote our app, Run With, which enhances training experiences for runners of all levels. It was also a perfect setting to close off my third week of marathon training, completing a 18.5km run in 1 hour and 45 minutes with keeping my heart rate down at 130 bpm. Voices from the Event: I had the privilege of interviewing several notable individuals who played pivotal roles in the event: • Harry from ADF Careers: Discussing new recruitment strategies for the armed forces. • Kirsten W. from BeWell - RSL Qld: Sharing insights on the support services and wellness programs RSL Qld offers to veterans. • Leeha James from FCFA: Highlighting how the Firefighters Cancer Foundation Australia supports firefighters dealing with cancer. • Marty Cornish from Phoenix Workwear: Exploring how their workwear supports the physical demands of industry and service members while supporting a great cause in mental health & resilience. Reflecting on Today: Run Army is more than just a running event; it’s a celebration of resilience, community, and mutual respect. It’s about people coming together to support those who serve, demonstrating that every step we take together is a step towards a stronger community. #RunArmy #CommunitySupport #Veterans #RunWith #MarathonTraining #Day112of366

The Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps program at Granbury High School will soon have a new workout station for its students -- the entire purchase covered by donated funds. 💬 “As the MCJROTC Physical Training Team continues to grow, it will allow them to have a dedicated workout area. This in turn, will free up space in the Pirate Pavilion Weight Room, which supports all of the GHS Athletic Teams," said Johnny Rositas, JROTC instructor. Read more ⤵
