Future-proof leadership is key for long-term success of any institution. But what exactly does future-proof leadership mean? Yesterday, I discussed this question at the #stgallensymposium with Martin Reeves, Christoph Loos, Felipe Paullier Olivera, Alexander Senn and a several dozen international leaders of today and tomorrow. We agreed that leadership development and a transparent intergenerational dialogue are important success factors also in the boardroom. But that what really counts is about the right mix of skills and profiles to lead a company to long-term success. In my role as professional non-executive member and leader of boards, it was therefore important for me to emphasize: As we supervise but increasingly also act as sparring partners and advisors to top management, our task is to assess issues, developments, and risks wisely and recognize relevant patterns at an early stage. And this does require experience. And as a standard setter? I am convinced that the right mix counts here, too. Because only by balancing good principles and concrete rules we can ensure good #CorporateGovernance in the long run.
