This week I completed "Introduction to Strategy Consulting Job Simulation" by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in collaboration with Forage. This was a virtual experience on what Business Consultants at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) do and what you can expect to do as interns and on job as a Business Consultant. In the current U.S. economy, every industry faces challenges attracting, hiring, and retaining the right talent. Property management is no different. A 2023 survey from Parks Associates and GE Appliances found that almost half of multifamily owners and real estate managers find it either difficult or very difficult to hire new maintenance staff, and struggle to retain workers once they’re hired. This article in the current issue of the Journal of Property Management shows how property management companies are dealing with the talent issue: enhancing their benefits packages, increasing pay, offering discounts on housing to resident managers, and expanding internship programs for college students and new graduates. #irem #propertymanagement #talentacquisition #recruitment #internshipopportunities

Top private-equity firms, including Apollo Global Management, Inc. and KKR just kicked off 2026 associate recruiting. Wall Street juniors are shocked and scrambling. In a surprise move that sent shockwaves throughout the junior Wall Street community on Monday, a series of leading private-equity firms kicked off recruiting for lucrative positions that won't start for two more years. The intense rite of passage known as "on-cycle recruiting" left some junior investment bankers scrambling to get in on a flurry of hastily arranged interviews. It marked buyside recruiting's earliest start date on record. The cycle had shifted progressively earlier in recent years. More than half a dozen industry sources confirmed to Business Insider that associate recruiting started on Monday evening. Two of the largest firms interviewing candidates Monday were Apollo Global Management and KKR, several of the people confirmed to BI, requesting anonymity citing the sensitivity of the information. (Their identities are known to BI.) Four sources said that Clayton Dubilier & Rice also participated in interviews. Spokespeople for some of the firms involved in recruiting either declined to comment or did not immediately respond to BI's requests for comment, sent outside of normal business hours Monday evening. Most first-year investment-banking analysts won't officially start their banking roles until July. The early recruiting timeline has left most candidates with no real-life deal experience to speak of, let alone workplace experience to point to, beyond their past summer internships. The coveted jobs come with the allure of prestige and enticing compensation packages. I thought leaving my job at Bain & Company would be difficult and traveling around full-time would be easy. It turns out, leaving Bain was easy, and traveling around full-time was rather difficult. But, of course, there are means in this world that can make the difficult easy. My tech genius co-founder and I started Polartern to build those means. I am happy to share that we've come this far. How important is place to culture? (Wondering to myself, actually is place THE most important part of culture?) Deloitte University (DU) has been a huge part of my experience of Deloitte culture, and it’s exciting to see it be expanded. To me, DU has shown that our leaders are willing to invest in culture, in learning, and in shared experiences. Not all organizations can invest in a full-time campus, but teams can better leverage “place” as a way to increase the odds of desired outcomes. E.g., ✅ Trying to generate some new ideas? Get out of your rut and take the team for a walkabout or a tour of a company from a totally different industry - get inspired by the bigger world out there. ✅ Onboarding employees? Find a way to take them back to where it all started - use place to create shared identity and story about how things came to be for your organization. Invite them to consider what “places” the company will go in the next 5, 10, 15 years - and how they’ll help take the company there.   ✅ Seeking to build connection between teams? Create regular rituals in a shared space by making tiny tweaks to layout and giving the ritual a name and purpose. Take the break room and once a month transform it into the Innovation Corner, with guest speakers and whiteboards to brainstorm solutions! ❓ How do you use place to create culture? ❓ (Shout-out to teams like those led by Alexandra Lieberman who apply hospitality principles to deliver an incredible experience at DU and to leaders like Benjamin Finzi, Brett Weinberg (Friedman), Vincent Firth, Jenny Ahn, Nigel Ferguson who designed and delivered some of the most impactful curricula of my professional life.)
