"Hindsight is a great gift, but it always arrives a bit too late," says award-winning intrapreneur turned writer and speaker Gib Bulloch. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eh8dB3N3 Gib Bulloch spent 25 years in the corporate world. He became a poster child for the “intrapreneurship” movement. However, his success came at a price. After experiencing burnout and a mental breakdown, he discovered the power of slowing down and reconnecting with himself and the world around him. It led him to start a business decelerator program on the Scottish Island of Bute Craigberoch Business Decelerator. Its aim: encourage business leaders to slow down, break the cycle of busyness and allow people and ideas to thrive. This is the first of a regular opinion column by Gib Bulloch called 'The Inside Out Leader'. He will explore the connections between business, purpose, presence and spirituality, and share insights on how leaders can shape a regenerative global business ecosystem. "It's a call to action – more accurately, a call to inaction," says Gib. Kindness and leadership - I am often asked if they align well A kind leader is often termed as a weak one, why so? Popular culture often glorifies the ruthless, type A personality in business - the hard-driving leader who crushes the competition without blinking. Compassion and kindness are seen as soft skills that have no place in the boardroom. But I believe the opposite is true. In my journey as an entrepreneur, I've learned that compassion and kindness are attributes of truly great leaders. Don't get me wrong - kindness is not about being passive or conflict-averse. The compassion I'm talking about comes from inner strength and requires restraint. It's like a skilled surgeon, who knows an incision will hurt but does what's needed - no more, no less - to help the patient heal. In business, hard decisions are sometimes required for an organization's health. Kind leaders don't shy away from these choices. But they make them humanely, with care and wisdom. I strive to lead with both compassion and clarity. Providing feedback that resonates, celebrating milestones in a way that motivates, empathizing with my team's diverse needs - this takes emotional intelligence. Nurturing my family expanded my capacity for compassion. It taught me to see each person's potential and meet them where they are. Leadership requires many tools. But kindness makes all the difference in empowering others to do their best work. When we stand in another's shoes, we become the leaders people deserve. The most resonant leaders in history - Gandhi, Mandela, Mother Teresa - led with compassion. They proved kindness isn't weakness; it's strength. Business today needs more leaders who hold fast to their humanity as they pursue bold visions. Who uplift people while disrupting industries. Who knows greatness comes from within, not from treading on others. This is the kind of leader I strive to be. What has your experience been with compassionate leadership? What insights can you share on leading with humanity? #kindlife #leadership #kindness #entrepreneurship #startupecosystem

A true leader doesn't create followers; they create more leaders — Unknown In the heart of the forest, a father deer found himself trapped, unable to escape. But instead of despair, his son acted with bravery and sought help. This story is a reminder of how leadership and support can come from unexpected places, even from those we think are still learning. When you empower others, they can lift you when you need it most. Takeaways: - 🌟 Leadership can emerge from anywhere, even from the ones you’re guiding. - 🦌 Empowerment leads to unexpected strength in times of crisis. - 🙌 Collaboration and support create lasting bonds and success. - 💡 Never underestimate the potential of others to make a significant impact. In business, like in life, empowering others is not just about creating a strong team—it's about creating leaders who can step up when the situation demands it. The strength of your network lies in mutual support and collaboration. Just like the father deer who was rescued by his son, we must trust in the abilities of those around us and foster a culture of empowerment. In the end, the favor you invest in others will come back to support you when you need it the most. 🌟🙏 Follow Me, Jerin Hossain for a Daily Dose of Wisdom 🙏 🌍 💗 💥 🎥 Ownership rights belong to the rightful owners. I came across this beautiful photo this evening and want to share it with you. The photo exudes the qualities of resilience, faith, hope, love, trust, respect & courage, which we all must practice as leaders, during these unsettled times. For me and many others, it represents our choice to climb "The Second Mountain", by serving others. Power Leadership is about self, controlling team members, and serving the leader. Servant Leadership is about leaders serving their employees, customers, and partners, by creating a positive & trusting culture, and by empowering team members to do the right job for the team! I would encourage each of you to do a self-assessment of how you are doing as a leader to determine what you might do to better serve your organization. Perhaps it is time for you to climb your Second Mountain, eh! 🇨🇦 I wish each of you peace, as we all continue on our journeys, during these unsettled times! ❤ 🙏 ❤ P.S. Please work to encourage those who may be struggling, every day. Imagine a world where businesses prioritize their purpose over profit. A world where companies exist not only to make profits but also to make a positive impact on society. Did you know that 82% of people yearn for this reality, yet only 42% witness it in action? As leaders and entrepreneurs, aligning with our core mission and prioritizing ethical considerations and social impact on par with, if not above, financial outcomes is essential. It's time to move away from short-term gains and focus on creating long-term impact. The journey from profit to purpose is not a sudden leap across an abyss; it's a deliberate path of a thousand steps. Each decision we make should embed courage and purpose into our business blueprint. Join the movement towards a purpose-led world. Are you ready to take that first step? Let's prioritize authenticity in action, business transformation, company culture, and leadership that matters. #PurposeDriven #AuthenticityInAction #BusinessTransformation #CompanyCultureMatters #LeadershipMatters

Deeper Connections Unlock Collective Actions This was one of the opening remark by Femke van Loon at the B For Good Leaders summit that took place last week in Amsterdam. A gathering of 1,500 visionary, entrepreneurs, executives, activists and investors united to create business for good. The summit kicked off rather unconventionally with a 45-minute meditation followed by a 20-minute piano concert. A clear message and invitation to "be present" rather than just "go fast" and "do more". The organizers recognized the importance of slowing down, reconnecting with ourselves, and starting from a place of "being" before "doing". Their core belief? Shared intentions for a better future need collective action to create exponential impact. And deeper connection is the key to unlocking that action. A better future starts with reconnecting with ourselves, remembering who we truly are. From that grounded place, we can (re)connect authentically and respectfully with others and the rest of life. This, I believe, unlocks our unlimited creative power – individually and collectively – and turns the concept of "business for good" into concrete action at scale. Want to dive deeper into human connection and its impact on performance? 💫 Connect with me on LinkedIn Julia Godet and learn how to unlock your potential and your organization's through the power of relationships. 🔔 Ring the bell on my profile to be notified about more content #humanconnection #relationalleadership #authenticleadership #consciousbusiness

Bringing Audacious to Life| Certified Leadership Team Coach | 6X Entrepreneur | Speaker | California and New England
Impact or Trust? Which would you choose working for, all else being the same? A company with a clear impact on the cause you care about most and had a clear purpose, but the culture was fragmented and laden with mistrust. The leaders don't agree. They don't trust you, micromanage you and questioned your every move. They're defensive and you did not feel safe to be vulnerable, even with your peers. OR A company where there is deep trust, but the work is non-impactful. The work is uninteresting and banal, let alone there's no clear mission or purpose that you are united around. You find the work meaningless. But people trusted you. You trusted the leadership. You felt empowered to make decisions about your work. Vulnerable themselves, your manager and peers care about you, encouraged you, understood your professional and personal goals, and helped you achieve them. Me? Of course I'd love both (and also I've been at places that have neither). But if I had to pick one --- I would pick Impact. Because at least we're making an impact, helping others, changing the world. I guess ultimately, others before me. What about you? #leadership #culture #entrepreneurship

How many of you are leaders? Leaders of people in the workplace? Leaders in charities or organisations? A solopreneur leading yourself and your own business? Leaders in your family? We are all leaders in some way, leading by example and by shining our light.✨ I’m moving into a new phase of my work life and picking up my leadership expertise again but in a very different way… Throughout my previous careers, in the civil service and in the Army, I covertly brought my spirituality and leadership skills together to bring positivity, balance and harmony to the workplace. Having tools to protect myself from toxic environments and bring about positive change in teams and meetings helped me to navigate the ups and downs of work life, make the right choices and act with intuition and integrity. I am creating an online course called ‘Leading with Light’ to share these skills and tools with you so you can shine your bright light as a leader and empower others to do the same; bringing passion, positivity, creativity and collaboration into your organisations and teams. I’ll be running a beta course next year. Give me a 👍 below if you’d be interested.
