Boca Raton, FL – In a historic moment for the City of Boca Raton, community leaders, Rotary members, and residents gathered this past Saturday at Sugar Sand Park for the unveiling of the city’s very first Rotary International Peace Pole. The Peace Pole, inscribed with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in eight languages, stands as a powerful symbol of hope and unity. This installation is the first of five planned Peace Poles in Boca Raton, with the next dedication scheduled at Ocean Strand Park.

I'm a little sad this morning. All my life growing up I believed America was a place where people put love of country above love of self. I believed that while we were divided at times over policy, we at some fundamental level would always seek to do the right thing for the preservation of our country. All of that was shattered for me yesterday in a little court room in NYC. Yesterday I saw the reality of one party, whose visceral hatred of the other party's leader, led it to cross a line in a manner that we may never recover from. Congratulations America - we just gave away any moral high ground we had ever amassed in the world's eye, and became the worst example of a third world country.
