I met Oliver David Krieg and founders, Oliver Lang and Cindy Wilson, at a recent clean tech conference. The story of Intelligent City fascinated me. While modular construction is not new, this accepted way of building has been transformed, ad as per Oliver Lang,
"As an industry first, we have commenced manufacturing of certified building systems compliant with the new high rise mass timber building codes up using AI through data integration, software automation and advanced robotics."
Intelligent City is disrupting where currently the construction and operation of buildings is responsible for 39% of humanity's global greenhouse gas emissions.
We delve into the use of mass timber, and why it's the best material, at the moment, that can forge an industry towards net zero. We also discuss the rise of increasing urbanization: In 2050, it is estimated that 70% of the global population will reside in 7% of the planet -- mainly in urban areas. Will this exacerbate the demand for affordable housing, leading to potential overcrowding, increased pollution, escalated conflicts, and social inequalities? And, can we learn from the lessons of Sidewalk Labs (Part of Google) and finally develop a smart city that addresses personal data concerns as intelligent systems collide?
Thank you Cindy Wilson, Oliver Lang and Oliver David Krieg for enlightening me!
