Representatives from last year’s investment delegation of development finance institutions (DFIs) have returned to #SierraLeone to support private sector lending. Building on the achievements of the 2023 investment delegation, the aim of the week-long visit is to support increased lending to Sierra Leone’s private sector through a partnership between DFIs and other development partners. This is the next step in a commitment between the Africa Resilience Investment Accelerator (ARIA), a consortium of DFIs supporting investment in frontier markets, and Invest Salone, the UK-funded private sector development initiative, to support the enabling environment for business in Sierra Leone. To identify lending bottlenecks and the extent of the private sector finance gap, Invest Salone and ARIA – together with their partners, British International Investment, the IFC - International Finance Corporation and the FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank – have convened a roundtable on Tuesday 4 June 2024 between bank leaders and DFI representatives. The GCC region is home to a range of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs), which have evolved into national champions that can move the needle locally and overseas. With a projected $7.6tn in combined assets under management (AuM) by 2030 from a historical peak of $4.1tn in 2023, GCC SWFs have increasingly become an oasis of sustainable growth on their home grounds and a prominent source of cash for international deals. These state investors have been among the biggest beneficiaries of the Gulf region’s recent boom, on the back of higher oil prices and a thriving economy. “Gulf SWFs have reaped the rewards of the fiscal windfalls and recovered quicker than others from the 2022 financial markets debacle,” Global SWF said in its annual report earlier in January. The research consultancy firm said one of the key consistent themes when it comes to sovereign capital was the prominence of investors from the GCC in 2023. 16 November, 2023 Daily Market Report Almost 700 trusts with $1.22 billion in registration Cambodia has seen a significant increase in trusts, with 683 trusts registered with an investment fund of $1.22 billion as of November 14, according to Director General Sok Dara. The trust sector's growth is attributed to foreign investors' confidence and understanding, as well as the need for the banking sector to support investments in the real estate sector. The investments of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) have seen a steady rise over the past few years. Assets under custody (AUC) of such funds in public markets have risen to ₹3.65 lakh crore at the end of August from ₹3.08 lakh crore last year, data from NSDL showed. The total AUC was ₹1.62 lakh crore in August 2018. The total assets of six of the top 10 SWFs investing in Indian equities rose by more than 50 percent in the year to June. The Singapore government was the largest SWF, with investments of ₹1.76 lakh crore at the end of June, followed by Norway’s Norges (₹76,812 crore) and Kuwait Investment Authority (₹8,790 crore), data from primeinfobase.com shows. Investment from Abu Dhabi Investment Authority rose 400 percent to ₹2,885 crore, the most in percentage terms among the top 10 SWFs. “Investments from the United Arab Emirates has picked up, while Saudi Arabia is looking at India more seriously given the strong inter-governmental relationships. Canadians have stopped investing in China and are reallocating to India and other emerging markets,” said Gaurav Karnik, National Leader Real Estate and Tax Partner, EY India. #finance #Stockmarket  #Stocnerv
