The Rising returns! 🙌 🚣♀️🚴⛰️ Niall Breslin and the team are taking on the mammoth challenge again this year, raising funds for our charity partner, A Lust For Life. For 8 days, the team will kayak, cycle, and climb, all to support A Lust For Life's excellent early prevention schools programmes, teaching children how to enhance and protect their mental health. This massive endeavor was a great success in 2023, supporting the charity’s mission to empower and educate all young people in Ireland through early preventative mental health programmes. September is National Suicide Prevention Month. This week is Construction Suicide Prevention Week. It is critical that we place as much focus on mental health in our workforce as much as we do the physical. #ConstructionSuicidePreventionWeek #SuicidePrevention #NAMI #MentalHealth #Construction
Safety doesn't just include PPE. Mental health and suicide prevention are key factors, too. This week is Construction Suicide Prevention Week. Compared to other industries, construction workers commit suicide at a four times higher rate. That's why Ahern is stepping up to prevent suicide with NAMI Fond du Lac County. NAMI Fond du Lac County is currently hosting its third annual STEP UP to PREVENT SUICIDE campaign presented by Horicon Bank throughout the month of September. You can text STEPUP2024 to 53555 and follow the link to our campaign page and click "DONATE & TICKETS" to donate to the campaign. Mental health is a vital aspect of our overall well-being, impacting how we think, feel, and interact with others. It's essential to prioritize self-care, seek support when needed, and foster open conversations about mental health challenges. Remember that it's okay to ask for help, whether through friends, family, or professionals, and that taking small steps toward managing stress and anxiety can lead to significant improvements. Let's create an environment where mental health is openly discussed and valued, reminding ourselves that we are not alone in this journey. At Cleveland Cable Company, we believe in giving back to the community and supporting causes that matter. This month, we’re proud to support the Headlight Project, an organisation dedicated to mental health support and suicide prevention. As we observe #InternationalCharityDay today and #WorldSuicidePreventionDay approaches, we encourage everyone to raise awareness and help break the stigma surrounding mental health. Together, we can create a brighter, safer future 💙 🔗 Learn more about how you can get involved and donate here: https://lnkd.in/ecStKvR3 #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #Charity #SocialImpact #ClevelandCable

It’s World Mental Health Day today. Mind is one of the UK’s 🇬🇧foremost Mental Health charities. https://lnkd.in/emTvCKFt “We’re in the middle of a mental health crisis. 2 million people are currently stuck on waiting lists for NHS mental health services. And on top of this, mental health stigma is still a significant issue. Real people, being left behind by a broken mental health system.” Mind is asking the Government to do 5 things: Reform the outdated Mental Health Act Raise the standard of mental health hospitals Build a network of support hubs so young people can get mental health support before they reach crisis point Support people with mental health problems to thrive at work Make benefits assessments work for disabled people so everyone has a financial safety net when they need it. Good to see NPC covering such an important topic
🔔 NEW REPORT: The youth mental health crisis Young people’s mental health is facing an unprecedented storm of pressures and crises, with charities often providing vital shelter. Our new report charts the current landscape for children and young people’s mental health, explores how charities are adapting to increasing demand, and highlights priority areas that need urgent investment from funders. We have identified six key areas where funders have the potential to create long-term positive change for children and young people: Preventative work and early intervention. Supporting children from minoritised groups. Building and diversifying the mental health workforce. Funding research on what works. Enabling collaboration across the mental health sector. Exploring a systems-based approach to funding. Find out more and join in the conversation 👇 #MentalHealth #Charity #Philanthropy #Children #YoungPeople

No words can change the reality for my dear friend Sam. No amount of hugs will bring back her beautiful 13 year old daughter, Poppy. I can only hope that sharing her story will help raise awareness and funds to support more young people than our current systems can cope with. If you can spare any pennies in solidarity & memory, here are 2 options: Much loved - Poppy https://lnkd.in/ewvm5sTU or 2 friends, Matt Oakley & Loukas Vevelos are raising funds on their tiny bikes https://gofund.me/9a024b68 In 2017 1 in 9 young people in the UK had a mental health problem, today it is 1 in 5 (according to Mind UK). I suspect the trend is the same around the world. In the same years, suicide related deaths in the UK in 10 – 14 year olds has gone from 10 children lost in 2017 to 23 in 2023 (ONS statistics).

We couldn’t agree more with this NPC (New Philanthropy Capital) report: collaborating to understand the role of digital services and established interventions in supporting mental health is essential, and we’re thrilled that Best For You is featured as an example of cross-sector partnership. Best For You is run in partnership by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, West London NHS Trust and CW+ and partners with over 75 other organisations to provide an innovative model of care that transforms young people’s experiences of accessing mental health support. The NPC report identifies areas for long-term positive change, including preventative work and early intervention. Best For You provides instant digital support for young people (including signposting), as well as bespoke offers for young people on NHS waiting lists. We’re also thrilled to work with Imperial College London to evaluate Best For You, including our digital resources for young people, to provide some of the much-needed evidence on the effectiveness of digital mental health interventions that’s highlighted in the report. 🗓 Mental Health Awareness Week serves as an annual reminder of the importance of prioritising mental well-being. It is a dedicated time for individuals, communities, and organisations to come together to raise awareness about mental health issues, reduce stigma, and promote support networks. 🙌 This week involves recognising that mental health is an integral part of overall well-being and acknowledging the impact that work-related stressors can have on employees. The aim is to always strive to create a supportive atmosphere where individuals feel comfortable discussing their mental health challenges without fear of stigma or discrimination. By promoting open communication, providing access to resources, implementing policies that prioritise work-life balance and stress management, organisations can cultivate a culture of mental wellness where employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. 🤝 Our industry plays a significant role in shaping the environments where we work, learn, and interact. This year, more than ever, we are constantly looking for ways to advocate designs that promote mental wellness by incorporating elements such as ample natural light, biophilic elements, and ergonomic furniture to create environments that encourage productivity, creativity, and emotional balance in the space we create. 💪 We stand ready to do our part in promoting mental well-being in the spaces where we live and work & hope to help create a world where mental health is valued, understood, and supported! 🧠 🤔 💭 Megan Isabelle Keith Tiltman
