Manufacturing has a diversity problem that needs to be tackled head-on. In partnership with Urban Manufacturing Alliance, we're expanding our Industry and Inclusion Coalition—a first-of-a-kind initiative to increase the diversity of the manufacturing workforce by reducing racial disparities in workforce development—with the addition of four prominent regional workforce organizations: The Ohio Manufacturers' Association, Detroit Future City, SEMCA Michigan Works!, and the Cook County Government Bureau of Economic Development. Together, these organizations will use their regional networks to drive positive change in diversity and equity within workforce development and tie unprecedented federal investment manufacturing to long-term career pathways for underrepresented communities. • By 2030, the manufacturing sector will have two million unfilled jobs. Without centering inclusive workforce development, people of color and women will lose out on these opportunities.
