In the first part of this session, we will become acquainted with what ethical leadership entails and discuss three sets of decision-making skills ethical leaders can apply when faced with organizational challenges, whether they are systems-based or interpersonal. In the panel, we will do a deep dive into the various components that make up purpose, and our three amazing panelists will discuss through their own experiences how their personal sense of purpose relates to the shaping of their professional identity and how they lead their respective organizations. ☝When you have a major organization that throws biennial conferences, you need to bring out your best representatives, don't you agree? Having smart delegates can bolster faith in leadership as well as a better image overall. Hartselle Chief of Police Justin Barley was recently nominated to be a delegate at the National Fraternal Order of Police 66th Biennial Conference. His job? To represent the state of Alabama. 💪 The Fraternal Order of Police is no normal organization. It's one of the oldest of its kind and was developed to help encourage leadership among law enforcement professionals. Seeing Chief Barley as a delegate for this organization is a wonderful thing. We at Guardian Alliance recognize the importance of being present in major organization meetings. We believe that sending Chief Barley was an excellent choice and that his dedication to the FOP is a great honor that's well deserved. What can we say? It takes a star to shine among great professionals and we want to offer our sincere congratulations for this major professional achievement.✨ Our organization offers a different type of support for teams in law enforcement. Guardian Alliance is dedicated to helping police teams vet new candidates so that they can find people like Justin Barley for their own squads. Let's take a look at what others have to say. Do you stay active with the Fraternal Order of Police? Tell me the details. Do you have an officer in your team that you want to celebrate? Tell us about them in the comments below. You cannot create history without first acknowledging those who paved the way. Honoring the work of those who came before me is essential in creating lasting change. Let's be intentional and authentic in our efforts to fill the gap between communities and law enforcement. It's not always easy, but the rewards of creating positive impact are worth it. Let's continue paying it forward. #beintentional #beauthentic #payingitforward

Social Justice Advocate Practitioner| Prison Education| Correctional Program Coordinator Therapeutic Community
Another great article posted by the Director of Second Look Network at The Sentencing Project regarding use of clemency powers to address excessive sentences. The number of older people in State & Federal prisons is increasing faster than any other age group. How could anyone claim that the point of incarceration was to incapacitate the truly dangerous when there are more people older than 55 in US prisons (165,000) than there are people in the high-crime range of 18-24? Geriatric healthcare in prison is both disgraceful and expensive. It costs on average, 3x more to incarcerate an older person than a younger one. Governor Andy Beshear could help alleviate the excessive costs mass incarceration has incurred on Kentucky as a proponent for second chances, and providing additional resources to protect public education and access to affordable healthcare-basic rights to the citizens of the Commonwealth. #SecondLookLaws #FreeKarenBrown
What an incredibly bold and inclusive way for a Governor to use clemency powers to address excessive sentences. Read New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy's clemency initiative at: https://lnkd.in/eXHPEwdj Governor Murphy's statement: “Today on Juneteenth, a day that celebrates freedom, I am incredibly proud to launch a historic clemency initiative. I’m committed to using my powers as Governor to pardon and commute sentences to address injustices and overly harsh sentences in our criminal justice system. Thank you @ltgovway, @pastor_rls, @meekmill, and @wallo267 of @reform, Amol Sinha of the @aclunj, Justin Dews, and everyone who joined us in Newark today in support of second chances and the values of justice, compassion, and rehabilitation."
