Hot Weather Safety for Older Adults Why can extreme weather be even more dangerous for older adults than for younger people? Hotter days can cause difficulty in the body’s ability to regulate its temperature. This can be challenging for older adults who typically do not adjust as well as others to sudden temperature changes. Additionally, older adults are more likely to have chronic medical conditions that affect the body’s response to temperature, and to take prescription medicines that alter the body’s ability to control temperature or sweat. 🌍 Today, on the UN International Day of Older Persons, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of older adults and reaffirm the importance of prioritizing their health and well-being. At AbleCare, we’re committed to empowering older adults to take control of their health. Our Able Monitoring solution enables clinicians to track essential patient metrics over time, providing critical insights into their functional health. This enables tailored care to help patients maintain their independence and quality of life. 💪 Grip strength, one of these key metrics, has been shown to be an indispensable marker for older adults, being a powerful predictor of complex health conditions, treatment outcomes, and crucial endpoints such as hospitalization, length of stay and readmission rates. 💙 Together, let’s champion proactive, preventative care that keeps older adults stronger, healthier, and independent for longer. #DayOfOlderPersons #HealthyAging #PreventativeCare #GripStrength #FunctionalHealth #AgeWell

Over 14 million, or 1 in 4 older adults report falling every year in the U.S. Falls result in more than 2.8 million injuries treated in emergency departments annually, including over 800,000 hospitalizations and more than 27,000 deaths. Falls, with or without injury, carry a heavy impact on the quality of life, often leading to fear that limits activities and social engagements. This can spiral into physical decline, depression, and social isolation. However, we can help prevent falls by encouraging regular exercise for improved strength and balance, ensuring well-lit homes free of tripping hazards, recommending vision and hearing checks, reviewing medications for fall risk-increasing side effects, and suggesting appropriate assistive devices. These simple steps can make a substantial difference in maintaining the safety, independence, and overall well-being of our our elderly loved ones. #fallspreventionawarenessday #preventfalls #elderlycare #seniorcitizenscare #supportelders #RisingHealth #RisingPharmaceuticals #pharma #healthcare
