If the UK wants to maintain even a modest industrial base and the jobs that come with it, this shift is an important and rational one. No country can be 100% renewable while maintaining or growing an industrial base that requires a lot of energy intensity. Natural gas is a very good step in moving away from coal while maintaining the needed energy for the UK. I think an "all of the above" strategy to generation will end up being the best one for most countries. It's the strategy we are deploying in Texas. #manufacturing #MFHouston #reshoring

The King presented a total of 39 bills earlier today covering a broad range of legislative plans. It will be interesting to watch the order the bills are discussed and then enshrined in statute as it will indicate the government's key priorities. The initiative the government has committed the most spending to (£8.3bn), is Great British Energy and the Great British Energy bill will get this publicly owned clean power company off the ground. It is understood that this bill will be going through the House of Lords tomorrow. Establishing GB Energy to help stimulate clean energy generation, create new jobs and shore up our supply chain is an ambitious move. It is not currently clear what assets GB Energy will actually own, and this is an important question as it will determine whether this will move the dial on the energy transition or not. If the assets are merely acquired from operators in the private sector then GB Energy won't make a jot of difference to our net zero targets. To the extent GB Energy builds assets or co-invests in new projects with the private sector this will add to the UK's energy generation and storage capacity. But if GB Energy is going to co-investment or build from scratch what return on capital employed will GB Energy be looking to achieve? Gas is the clean energy solution for an uninterrupted transition to renewable energy. America has followed these idiotic plans by subsidizing so called renewables. If companies cannot successfully operate on thier own they are not a viable option.

The UK will allow new gas-fired power plants to be built into the 2030s, watering down a previous commitment to have a net zero grid by 2035. The Government has committed to building new gas power stations to avert what ministers described as the “genuine prospect of blackouts”. Rishi Sunak said the UK needed to meet its goals to cut emissions by nearly four-fifths by 2035, on the way to the 2050 goal, in a “sustainable way that doesn’t leave people without energy on a cloudy, windless day...I will not gamble with our energy security. I will make the tough decisions so that no matter what scenario we face, we can always power Britain from Britain.” That being said, natural gas is still a significantly cleaner alternative. #naturalgas #power #UK #energysecurity #blackout #sustainability

The nations power grid is at a critical point as it absolutely requires modern updates to fulfill the demand of American consumers, but minimal budgets make the necessary updates, new construction, and training of the future generation impossible. Federal Government moves to shore up domestic gas supplies to 2033 to keep the lights on and de-risk the market as the challenges of the energy transition continue to grow. AEMO had warned that a looming shortage of gas could threaten power supplies, particularly in critical periods of extreme weather. The move comes as the Albanese Government is also considering a new retail energy bill relief package to address cost of living issues. #energytransition

I have tried to not be tooooo political and certainly the lifting of the ban on new onshore wind developments was something to really celebrate… But, here’s a little scepticism because, I’m just that way inclined 🤷🏼♀️ Let’s get into it: The newly elected Labour Party’s ambitious offshore wind and decarbonisation targets are set to be tested by budget constraints and governance challenges. In the first 100 days, watch for the government to seek quick wins on key energy policies. A critical move will be to increase the auction budget. The sixth CfD auction is this summer and without changes, the UK is likely to miss its 2030 targets. The government must consider increasing the budget and reforming the scheme to stay on track. By increasing the budget, the new government can unlock billions in renewable energy investments, lower consumer bills, enhance energy security, and boost UK supply chains and high-quality jobs. But, I remain concerned over the financial balance of the manifesto.

To ease the risk of blackouts U.K. to build extra gas-powered energy infrastructure despite PM's pledge to phase out fossil fuels to achieve Net Zero target.   Why gas-powered? Why not solar- or wind-powered? Because neither solar nor wind are dependable energy sources.   PM Rishi Sunak said he would not "gamble with our energy security". A hell of an oxymoron since Mr. Sunak has been an aficionado and staunch promoter of Net Zero. A slap also on the face of those who argue that renewable energy is more reliable and cheaper than fossil fuels.   Claire Coutinho, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, also said: "The UK risks blackouts without new gas power stations. [...] as we continue to move towards clean energy, we must be realistic." In other words, Mrs. Coutinho admits that so far the government has not been realistic.   The manic pursuit of Net Zero is,   - contributing to the UK's (and Europe's) industrial wipe-out; - leading the taxpayer to bankruptcy and/or lower standard of living; - leading Europe whole to impoverishment; - increasing the dependence of Europe to China and Russia.   For an effective Energy Transition a balance must be pursued between Economic Development & Growth, Energy Security & Access, and Environmental Sustainability.   We had enough of the politicians' Green Lies!
