Despite Debby storming Savannah, Georgia, this week, CLEP top test centers were honored on Tuesday, August 6, during the National College Testing Association’s 25th Annual Conference held at the Hyatt Savannah Riverfront. The 2024 CLEP Honors Awards were given to the top 20 national and military test centers for the number of CLEP exams administered during 2023. Even though this is a coveted testing center honor, the real winners are the students who progress toward college degrees when successfully completing CLEP exams. Know someone interested in a Senior Military College experience? Consider the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets! Due to the generosity of alumni and friends of the Corps, the Commandant of Cadets announced guaranteed scholarship money for all Cadets with a current FAFSA on file and who remain in good standing in the University and the Corps - All New Cadets arriving Fall of 2024 will receive a $1,000/year Emerging Leader Scholarship (ELS). (NOTE: Current cadets with an ELS will not see their amounts reduced.) - All juniors and seniors, GPA of 2.5 or above, will receive an additional scholarship award of $3,500/year towards total cost of attendance. - Also, for New Cadets arriving Fall of 2024, Financial Aid will build aid packages and the Corps will contribute to address unmet need. - For all cadets, Commandant Scholarships are available to help with unmet need in the future. - For sudden needs, cadets in any class can apply for Response Funds to help address these needs. - Any cadet taking winter and/or summer semester classes may apply for Corps Summer Scholarships, valued at up to $3,000.

Let's talk about NROTC requirements and becoming a Naval Officer through other avenues while in high school or newly graduated.. Are you an educator, or do you have a family member, sibling, child, or (insert here) looking into NROTC, the Naval Academy or other college scholarship and service programs? Have they been thinking about applying to the United States Naval Academy? If so, I recommend applying for both the Academy and hashtag #NROTC. What's the worst thing that happens? Worst case you have an additional option to meet your end goal of being a Naval Officer, having college paid for and serving your country! ***NEW*** Did you know you can take the #ASVAB instead of having to pay, wait and study for the #ACT or #SAT for NROTC? An 81 (required ASVAB score) is still a challenging attain but removes the barriers and costs of civilian standardized testing for NROTC. How much does it cost to take the ASVAB?
