What is the notification period? In essence, it is the last opportunity for the application to be withdrawn. It starts from the date on which the last of the parties received the CAC’s notice that a ballot is to be held and lasts for 10 working days. The union can notify the CAC that it does not want it to arrange for the holding of the ballot during this period or the parties can jointly notify the CAC (for example, if they reach a semi-voluntary agreement). NAIOP SoCal Co-Sponsored Bill Stalls in State Senate AB 2433, cosponsored by NAIOP SoCal, will not be moving forward this year. The bill, which aimed to expedite permits and plan-checking services, was pulled by its lead author, Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva (D-67), from further consideration in the current legislative session after facing opposition from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). AB 2433 sailed through three Assembly Committees without opposition and unanimously passed the full Assembly on May 21 via a 67 – 0 vote. Once in the Senate, SEIU mounted strong opposition to AB 2433 leading Asm. Quirk-Silva to withdraw the bill. The Assemblymember plans to re-introduction similar legislation in 2025-26. “Our profound gratitude goes out to Asm. Quirk-Silva for her leadership in galvanizing overwhelming bipartisan support for AB 2433. The reason AB 2433 received such strong, bipartisan support is that it’s a good bill that found practical solutions to building delays. We went on offense not to achieve a moral victory but to pass thoughtful legislation that benefits California,” said Timothy Jemal, CEO, NAIOP SoCal. Once against it's AGM season, so far two completed and three more to go. It's always interesting to see who turns up and why. Yesterday's was amazing with a full capacity of members with the room full to busting. The committee also did an excellent job by not repeating their reports as provided in the AGM pack but just focusing on some key highlights. Another aspect that has worked well is the use of online voting for directors and any amendments to clauses, this shows the benefit of IT in one of its simplest forms but allows the AGM to be more flowing. So the key take aways so far. Ahead of the meeting Develop an AGM pack with the board members updates vote for directors online vote for any amendments online During the meeting Provide key highlights Updates on any amendments Allow members to contribute. Now onto the next one.

The more eligible voters who participate in the democratic process, the more our state will thrive. Today's primary run-off elections are an important opportunity to turn away from hyper-partisanship, reject mis- and disinformation, and ensure the right to vote is protected and accessible for all eligible voters. In 2023, we evaluated the state of democracy and elections in Georgia, and found five ways we can make our system even better: https://bit.ly/3XzJGKZ
