As reported by The War Zone on Tuesday, Iran has demonstrated the capabilities of its Kheiber Shekan medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) in an attack on a ‘terrorist facility’ in the Syrian city of Idlib.
We demonstrated our real-time Kheiber Shekan missile launcher model in November at I/ITSEC - in a remarkably similar scenario. Our demonstration was conducted in VRSG’s 3D virtual U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, geospecific 2 cm per-pixel resolution terrain, in a scenario designed to mimic a real-world 2023 event that saw militia fighters fire on U.S. troops in Western Iraq.
By giving JTACs, FOs, pilots and sensor operators the opportunity to practice identifying and striking targets that exactly replicate real world equipment in realistic manoeuvres - whether pulled from the headlines or anticipated – the goal was to show how VRSG high-res terrain and model library supports training requirements. What does a specific launcher look like when it is in convoy with other vehicles? How do its articulated parts operate when it is preparing to launch a strike? What does a recently fired launcher look like? What is its thermal output during different phases of manoeuvre? These are all things that VRSG’s highly-detailed models allow trainees to become familiar with.
MVRsimulation invests significant resource in ensuring that VRSG’s 3D model library is continuously updated with real-time models that reflect the newest equipment being deployed by military forces and insurgent groups around the world, including highly-detailed geometry and accurate paint schemes.
Our belief is that virtual and mixed-reality training can only be as good as the visuals it uses - and that the best, most highly detailed and accurate imagery delivers superior training effect. In providing this level of imagery, MVRsimulation provides a critical component of the military training resource needed to prepare military personnel for the challenges they face in theater.
