BEWARE OF PREDATORY CONFERENCES AND PUBLISHING  The recent editorial in Nature magazine (30th July 2024) is a good opportunity to remind all of the (rising) existence of predatory initiatives, targeting the scientific community with sole purpose of making money, not of contributing to science:   https://lnkd.in/dWH4t-Ab    The Nature editorial concerns predatory conferences, but similar initiatives exist in the publishing business, with sometimes a grey zone between high-standard scientific publishing and pure predatory actions. The European Magnetism Association already made warnings on the matter, and will continue to do so: https://lnkd.in/dPiEuX3e. Similar to the Nature editorial, we provide practical rules to help identifying predatory conferences.    So, for both conferences and publications, be thoughtful when receiving invitations, and avoid pointless impact on your budget and/or carbon footprint, and avoid fueling mistrust in science that such initiatives contribute to.
