Did you know nearly one-third of solo shows in US museums go to artists represented by just five galleries? So why does diversity matter? Diversity is like a breath of fresh air in a stuffy room. It brings new ideas, new perspectives, and new ways of seeing the world. It challenges us to think differently, to question our assumptions, and to open our minds and our hearts to new possibilities. Diversity isn't just good for artists, it's good for all of us. When we embrace diversity in the art world, we're not just enriching our cultural landscape, we're building a more inclusive, more vibrant society for everyone. That's why ODBK matters, that's why your donation and your support are paramount now more than ever. #ODBK #nonprofit #contemporaryart #fyp #donate #diversitymatters #DiversityAndInclusion

Trusted Technology Expert 3X Founder, AI & Telecom Pioneer ☎️ Supporting Businesses of all sizes and solving big and small technology problems for you.
As we wrap up our nonprofit series, I’ve been thinking about all the incredible moments we’ve shared with these organizations. It’s been fun reflecting on the impact they’ve had in our community and how much they mean to all of us. Maymont: This one’s personal—Maymont is where I proposed to my wife back in ’89. Over the years, we’ve helped them expand while they continue preserving one of Richmond’s most beautiful spots. Virginia Repertory Theatre: I never thought I’d get involved with theater, but Virginia Rep is about so much more than shows. They’ve been inspiring and educating through the arts, and it’s been awesome to support them. Richmond Ballet: Watching the Ballet grow has been special. They’re bringing dance to all corners of the community, and it’s more than just performances—it’s about connecting people through movement. Richmond Symphony: Music’s always been a big deal to me, so supporting the Symphony has been extra meaningful. Their concerts are great, but it’s their work with youth programs that really hits home. Greater Richmond SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now): SCAN was our neighbor back in the ‘90s. Seeing how they’ve grown and the impact they’ve made protecting children has been amazing. I’m proud to have been part of their journey. Central Virginia Legal Aid Soc (CVLAS): Watching the legal community come together to support CVLAS’s mission has been inspiring. They’re making a real difference for people who need it most. Richmond SPCA: Every time I visit, I want to bring home every puppy and kitten. But really, the work they do—adoption, medical care, giving animals a second chance—is just incredible. Looking back, these partnerships remind me of how vital nonprofits are to our community. Are you a nonprofit looking for support? Or know one that might need a hand? Whether it’s tech solutions or something else, let’s chat and see how we can make a difference together. Let’s keep doing good work. #PhoneBill ☎️ #RVA #nonprofit #community

A Historic Event That Fundraising Made Possible It was one of the greatest events in American history. Some 250,000 crowded into the National Mall, many of them quite poor. There, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his singular, soaring, timeless "I Have A Dream" speech. That speech and that event proved influential in the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. But how was the March on Washington made possible? How did so many people of such modest means make it to Washington and make such an impression on the world? How did they demonstrate the power of numbers and the potential of democracy? It was through a series of remarkable fundraising events illuminated in this article. Fundraising events, like fundraising itself, can rise to the level of great and historic when put in service to a great cause. The smaller the cause, the more narrow the goal and the shorter the horizon, the smaller that fundraising, fundraising events and organizational ambitions seem. Some say a lack of resources keeps us from dreaming big; I say it's the lack of big dreams that keeps us from securing more significant resources. Do you have an epic dream or budgetary need?

Can you help ?
Can you help? 🙏 After 18 months of working on my small business I'm ready to expand further. To do this I need some extra space to launch new product ranges and fulfill bigger orders for stockists worldwide. 🌍 If every one of my connections on my LinkedIn donated £1.50 each I would have more than enough to rent an artists studio for 12 months so I thought it was worth a shot! 🤷♀️ Anything you can contribute, however small, would be much appreciated to help me follow my dream. This month marks a pivotal moment in history — the 56th anniversary of the signing of the Fair Housing Act. As we commemorate this landmark legislation, we also reflect on the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose unwavering commitment to equality and justice paved the way for its passage. In the wake of Dr. King's tragic assassination, the Fair Housing Act emerged as a beacon of hope, a tangible step toward dismantling the barriers of discrimination in housing. Yet, over five decades later, our work is far from finished. The vision Dr. King articulated, of a nation where all are judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character, remains elusive for far too many. Just last year, NFHA reported that there were over 33,000 fair housing complaints throughout the country-the highest number of reported complaints since we've been tracking this data. Moreover, millions of incidents of discrimination go unreported, particularly as we now tackle the new frontier of technology and algorithmic bias. As Dr. King reminded us, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." It is up to us to bend that arc, to continue the fight for fair and inclusive housing for all. Please support the important work we do at NFHA to advance housing justice by donating at least $56 during Fair Housing Month. Together, we can build a future where every person has access to safe, affordable, and equitable housing — a future that fulfills the promise of Dr. King's dream. Thank you for standing with us in this vital mission. https://lnkd.in/eM248xXu In Solidarity, National Fair Housing Alliance

Join us in Pathways, a free program that supports arts and heritage workers as they learn about equity and access, and integrate this work into their organizations. Pathways is a program developed by our community to serve our community! Connect with over 70 organizations across the province as we support and learn from each other. Pathways provides access to resources, workshops and peer support networks for an entire year. Applications are now open for the September 2024 intake of the Pathways program. Every organization is unique and serves a specific community. Pathways is designed to be impactful for organizations and individuals working in different contexts, with different interests, and at different points in their work towards equity. Whether you are strongly invested in equity and would like support to access more costly advanced learning opportunities, or are just beginning and would value one-on-one guidance as you get started; this program may be a good fit for you and your organization. We recognize arts workers/volunteers are balancing their limited capacities and the desire and expectation to do equity work in meaningful and sustainable ways. If you want community support and personalized guidance in taking your organization’s equity work to the next level, apply now. Expressions of interest are now open - apply before July 22. Full program details are available on the Pathways website: www.manypathways.ca Image Description: A navy blue square with light teal line accents. White text over the square reads: We imagine a vibrant arts sector in which people can bring their whole selves to their work. On the bottom left of the image is a white swoosh with the Pathways logo. The BCMA, Rural Arts Inclusion Lab, @gvptatheatre and @ArtsBC logos are featured bottom right. #Pathways #ArtsBC #BCArtsCouncil #BCMuseumsAssociation #GVPTATheatre #RuralArtsInclusionLab #BCArts #BCNonprofit #NonprofitArts #CommunityArts #Equity #Accessibility #Nonprofit #NonprofitLeadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #SectorChange

In Europe, like in many other parts of the world, there's a serious lack of diversity in the art world. We're talking about underrepresentation that simply can't be ignored. When the voices of diverse communities are missing from the conversation, we're missing out on a wealth of perspectives and experiences. But ODBK isn't backing down, folks. We're fighting tooth and nail to change the status quo and create a European art world that truly reflects the rich tapestry of humanity. And with our equality programs leading the way, we're making waves and inspiring change across the continent. #ODBK #DiversityAndInclusion #donate #nonprofit #contemporaryart #diversitymatters #fyp

Vital Arts exists to address the multifaceted challenges that artists face today, but we cannot do it alone. We need your support to continue this critical work. Your donation, whether $5, $50, or $500, helps more artists pay their rent without sacrificing meals. It supports city-wide policies that value artists, provides resources for arts professionals, and fosters mind-changing conversations with stakeholders. Bit by bit, we are building a thriving arts ecosystem. Bit by bit, we are improving conditions for every artist, arts worker, and resident with a system of care and a big-picture approach. Bit by bit, we are creating a world that truly values the arts as vital. https://lnkd.in/gpyYdcjk
