Is it possible to develop a legal dream team?   Some days ago, the question is it possible to develop a legal dream team arose in a conversation. And yes, it is possible!!! I am sharing with you some key strategies for it:   🔒Strategic Hiring: Identify the specific skills, expertise, and experience needed within the legal team based on the organization's goals and legal requirements. Recruit talented individuals but also align with the organization's values and culture. 🔒Diverse Skillsets: Build a team with diverse skillsets and backgrounds, including specialists in various areas of law. This ensures that the team can address a wide range of legal challenges effectively. 🔒Clear Roles and Responsibilities: Define clear roles and responsibilities for each team member to ensure accountability and optimize workflow. 🔒Effective Leadership: Appoint strong and visionary leaders who can provide direction, mentorship, and support to team members. The Long Law Firm is hiring. As we grow, I think a lot about… Building a company that allows people to be themselves. Building a team that effectively balances innovation and execution. Hiring individuals that can make an immediate impact who are also willing and able to grow. This is the first video that I’ve ever posted. It took about five minutes to make the video. And about two days to debate with myself, back-and-forth, whether or not to post it. In my final analysis, effective leadership requires some level of vulnerability and a willingness to try new things. The man in the arena, and all that stuff. I hope to do more of these in the future and my expectation is that the quality will improve with practice. In the meantime, you got to enjoy the awkward first steps of this project.

Don’t be afraid to hire people smarter and more talented than yourself.   This is another key thing I've learned as I reflect on our journey of growing our law firm from 2 to 50 staff members over the last 9 years.   I can’t remember who gave me this nugget of wisdom early on – my apologies, if I could remember I would credit you! But this has been an invaluable piece of advice over the years.   Naturally I think we feel threatened by people who know more than we do, or who are smarter than we are.   But as the business has grown, surrounding myself with people who are smarter and more talented than myself has been a huge key to our success.   This applies to my business partners, our team leaders and lawyers, and our incredibly talented support staff.   They all have skills and abilities I don’t have. The really tricky bit is learning to let go; that hasn’t always been easy for someone like myself who likes to control all the little details.   But there is also a huge relief in letting go and realising I don’t have to know everything, or be an expert in everything. I don’t have to stress about everything.
