This week, 6-12 May, is Dying Matters Awareness week. It is a time where people all around the UK encourage communities to open up conversations around death and dying, which ties in nicely with this year's theme, 'The way we talk about dying matters'.As a Funeral Celebrant, it is often apparent when I meet with bereaved families that they have not had discussions with their loved ones surrounding the topic of their wishes upon death. The same goes with friends and family that I talk to - not many of them are aware of their nearest and dearest's wishes for their final farewell, nor have they thought about their own. Yes, it's a sensitive subject, but such an important one to approach. Let's normalise these conversations, write down those ideas and make our lives, and the lives of those who love us, a little easier for when the inevitable happens. Let's start today! What are your thoughts and feelings about talking to others about death? Does it make you feel uncomfortable or do you feel it is a conversation that is needed? Let me know in the comments and start our own healthy conversation about death and dying. 😊#DyingMattersAwarenessWeek #talkaboutdeath #funeralcelebrant #leightonbuzzard #LeightonBuzzardLocal #leightonbuzzardbusiness https://lnkd.in/dhx7pwiY@ceremonies_with_suzanne
