Facing the choice between essentials like milk or electricity, eggs or medications, and even poultry or housing shouldn't be a reality for anyone. Yet, for 1 in 3 of our neighbors facing food insecurity across Massachusetts, these are some of the tough decisions they have to make daily. Thank you to Esha Walia and Boston Globe Media for their recent article highlighting how grocery prices have surged 25% since 2019, forcing twice as many families to seek food assistance compared to pre-pandemic levels and making affording nutritious food more difficult than ever. That’s why GBFB exists. We are here to help and fuel the charitable food system that is responding to this chronic surge in food assistance need. With our purchasing power, we acquire and distribute healthy free food to our neighbors facing food insecurity through a robust network of 600 community partners. That means for every $1 you donate, 2 meals will be provided to a neighbor in need across the 190 cities and towns we serve. Together, we have the power to put healthy meals on our neighbors' tables and end hunger here. Check out The Boston Globe article mentioned to learn more: https://lnkd.in/dGYTWGFc

This #HungerActionMonth, Dairy West is excited to announce our collaboration with Tackle Hunger to combat food insecurity across the nation. During this crucial month and throughout the year, we are committed to ensuring that essential dairy foods are within everyone’s reach. Milk, cheese and yogurt, while highly demanded, are seldom donated to food charities because they need refrigeration. Through our partnership with Tackle Hunger and their innovative donation map, you can help change this by making monetary donations directly to local food charities. These contributions will provide nutrient-rich dairy to those in dire need. This initiative spans 21 states, where regional dairy councils work tirelessly to ensure that donations reach our communities effectively. This effort not only feeds but also nourishes, supporting everything from children’s growth to adults' health. Jaclyn St. John MS, RDN, LD from Dairy West underscores the urgency: “With 13 million children facing food insecurity in our nation, our partnership with Tackle Hunger is crucial. By donating through the Tackle Hunger Map, you support our local food banks in providing dairy essentials to families in need.” 🔗 Join us in making a difference. Visit the map.tacklehunger.org to support your local food charity and help us make dairy accessible to all. Your involvement can lead to a healthier, more equitable community. #TackleHunger #DairyNourishes #FeedTheChange #AgNews #StrongerInNumbers

❔❔Did You Know....❔❔ Our donations are made possible because of the food rescue programs larger organizations like Midwest Food Bank manage so that we can feed our community. 🌿 Donated items come in the form of: Close-dated items: Products that are close to their expiration date and don't have enough time to reach store shelves. Overruns: Extra products made beyond what was forecasted, often cheaper to keep the production line running. Mislabeled items: Products with packaging errors, like missing ingredients or allergen information. Relabeling is too costly, but we have the volunteer resources to repack and relabel these items. Damaged or discontinued goods: Items with damaged packaging or products that are no longer sold in stores. -Midwest Food Bank: How Midwest Food Bank and Our Partners Fight Food Waste Together You can donate too! **Hunger doesn't care about your zip code.** With the rising cost of living and inflation affecting everyone, food insecurity has become a critical issue, particularly for the 1.9 million adults and children in Massachusetts who represent 1 in 3 households. The increasing prices of essential goods have made it significantly harder for families to afford nutritious food, pushing many to seek help from food agencies and community resources. As one of the four food banks in Massachusetts, Merrimack Valley Food Bank, Inc. partners with over 100 food agencies across 33 communities. Together, we are working tirelessly to provide emergency food assistance to those in need. However, the demand for healthy food continues to stretch our resources. To ensure that everyone has access to the nutritious food they need to thrive, we need your help. 💪 Here’s what you can do: *Donate to Merrimack Valley Food Bank and help feed 80,000 each month *Host a food drive with family, friends, or your company. *Volunteer your time. *Raise Awareness about the growing need and encourage others to get involved. No amount is too small to address this urgent issue and make a tangible difference in our communities. For over two years, Manna has seen skyrocketing demand for food, including to-go meals, and we need your help to cover our rising costs. Manna is currently preparing and providing over 11,000 to-go meals every month, MORE THAN DOUBLE the 5,000 we were preparing and providing in spring 2022. To-go meals offer a convenient way for people to access food. People can take as many meals as they need, and also share them with family and friends who need food. To-go meals are available in meat, pork, seafood and vegetarian options and include an entree, sides, snacks and beverage. As with our sit-down community meals, we provide to-go meals to anyone in need, "no questions asked," in order to be as inclusive and accessible as possible. From time to time, however, we conduct surveys so we can learn and improve. In February and March, Manna conducted a daily survey with all to-go meal guests. Here's a snapshot of our findings: • On average, over 120 people get to-go meals every day. • For every person who gets to-go meals, three people are fed, because people take meals to share with others. • On average, our to-go meals feed over 300 people every day. Even though we use donated food, each to-go meal costs Manna about $4.33 to produce. With the increased amount of meals Manna is distributing, we need your help to cover our increased costs. Please consider donating today! Thank you to all of our food donors, volunteers and staff who make it possible for us to continue meeting the growing demand for food in our community. Today our food rescue partner Foodbank Australia released its Hunger Report which highlights the ongoing challenges of food insecurity faced by too many Australians. The report revealed nearly 1 in 2 low-income households are experiencing food insecurity at the highest rate since the onset of the cost-of-living crisis, with single-parent families the hardest hit. As charities continue to grapple with historically high demand for food relief, we’re proud of the work we do to ensure food relief is available to those who need it. Since 2003 Coles Group has partnered with Foodbank to rescue unsold, edible food that would otherwise have gone to waste and to date have donated 44.9 equivalent million meals to the charity dedicated to making a difference. Food security is one of the most basic needs.
According to a new report issued by Feeding America, nearly 130,000 people in southwestern Wisconsin experience food insecurity—a 47% increase from the previous year. This means that 1 in 10 of our neighbors don't have enough to eat, and don't know where their next meal will come from. Nutritious food belongs to us all, and each of us can play a role in ending hunger in southwestern Wisconsin. Donate, volunteer, advocate–or start your own food drive! You know when you want to help those in need but you have no control over mother nature and it's an awful feeling. I think it's literally in our DNA to help others. I really want to make an impact, so I'm doing a little fundraiser to help those impacted get some relief! We can all help! Drop a comment or message me for the link! P.S. Happy to set you up your own link to spread the love. Let's make this go viral!! Pampered Chef helps people by partnering with Feeding America to donate a portion of their sales to fight hunger, allowing them to provide meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity through Feeding America's network of food banks; essentially, when you buy Pampered Chef products, a part of that purchase goes directly towards helping people in need of food through Feeding America. Key points about this partnership: "Round-Up from the Heart" campaign: Pampered Chef runs a dedicated campaign where customers can "round up" their purchase to the nearest dollar, with the extra amount going directly to Feeding America. Specific product donations: Sometimes, Pampered Chef will designate certain products where a portion of each sale is donated to Feeding America. How Feeding America helps people: Distributing food: Feeding America works with a network of food banks across the United States to collect food donations and distribute them to people in need through food pantries and meal programs. Addressing hunger issues: By providing access to food, Feeding America aims to alleviate hunger and food insecurity in communities. #makeanimpact #hurricanerelief #feedingamerica #endhunger #helpthoseinneed #makeadifference #roundup #doubledonations
