We're taking important steps to reduce our GHG emissions globally. 🌍 Check out our latest initiative in the UK where we're generating electricity from fruit in our Histon manufacturing facility which is the home of some of Hain's popular brands Hartley's® jams and jellies, Robertson's®, Frank Cooper's®, and Rose's® marmalades, and Clarks® maple syrup. The initiative contributes to Hain's Global Impact Strategy and goal to reduce GHG emissions 42% in our facilities globally by 2030. The importance of removing microplastics from water cannot be overstated. These tiny particles, remnants of our extensive use of plastics, have found their way into our rivers, oceans, and even drinking water, posing serious threats to marine life, human health, and the overall quality of our water resources. Addressing this issue is not just about preserving the environment; it's a matter of public health and ethical responsibility. By focusing on eliminating microplastics, we can protect ecosystems, safeguard our health, and push forward towards more sustainable and environmentally conscious practices. This challenge also opens up opportunities for innovation in water treatment technologies, highlighting the critical intersection of environmental stewardship and technological advancement. https://lnkd.in/grKDpu7R

We are at a turning point in the history of refrigeration. This message is really important - please read and consider! There are still surprisingly many who have doubts regarding the global warming effect of synthetic refrigerants BUT when it comes to “obscure chemicals” in our drinking water and in the vegetables we eat - then people finally seem to wake up. Make a natural choice – chose Natural Refrigerants and start today!
🌍 Making conscious choices for a sustainable future goes beyond holiday gifts. You ensured a PFA-free non-stick pan for Dad and a PFA-free rain jacket for Sis, but have you considered where else you can make a PFA-free impact? The increasing use of HFO-1234yf in refrigerants poses a threat to our environment and health. Classified as a PFAS (forever chemical), its atmospheric degradation product, trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), accumulates in waterways, affecting drinking water supplies. Let's extend our commitment to PFA-free living beyond individual choices. As we step into 2024, let's urge the HVAC&R industry, policymakers, and ourselves to prioritize sustainable alternatives. Explore the comprehensive report by ATMOsphere on this critical issue. At EKA, we are committed to sustainable alternatives. Ask us how we can assist with research and development for products using natural refrigerants. https://lnkd.in/dkQcFvVR Naturally sustainable engineering solutions.

The onsite solution for destroying PFAS and emerging contaminants! This week's #CleantechCatalyst and Foresight 50 honouree, Axine Water Technologies, is using a special process called electrochemical oxidation to get rid of harmful toxins like PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances) and other chemicals that can be harmful to the environment. This helps factories comply with regulations, save money, and avoid pollution penalties. Foresight's Acceleration programs expedite the success of innovators like Axine Water Technologies to deploy their sustainable solutions. Let's work together to accelerate the transition towards a greener future: https://hubs.la/Q02vXwhL0

Plastics are linked to elevated risks of autoimmune disorders, cancer, heart disease, respiratory problems, and more. For Earth Day 2024 on April 22nd, EARTHDAY.ORG is unwavering in our commitment to end plastics for the sake of human and planetary health, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of ALL plastics by 2040. To achieve a 60% reduction by 2040, EARTHDAY.ORG’s goals are: (1) promoting widespread public awareness of the damage done by plastic to human, animal, and all biodiversity’s health and demanding more research be conducted on its health implications, including the release of any and all information regarding its effects to the public; (2) rapidly phasing out all single use plastics by 2030 and achieving this phase out commitment in the United Nations Treaty on Plastic Pollution in 2024; (3) demanding policies ending the scourge of fast fashion and the vast amount of plastic it produces and uses; and (4) investing in innovative technologies and materials to build a plastic-free world.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is investing a hefty $3.5 million into C16 Biosciences, founded by David Heller and Shara Ticku, a forward-thinking company shaking up the palm oil industry with environmentally friendly alternatives. Backed by Y Combinator and also receiving a $1 million boost from Elemental Excelerator, C16 is on a mission to combat the environmental havoc caused by traditional palm oil production. Palm oil, found in everything from soaps to chocolates, has faced criticism for contributing to deforestation. C16, with its innovative use of yeast and agriculturally derived feedstocks, has already crafted an alternative for beauty products named #Palmless. With the fresh funding injection, C16 plans to revolutionize the food industry by developing new oil recipes using both waste stream and non-agriculturally derived feedstocks. CEO Shara Ticku envisions a future where feedstocks derived directly from carbon capture play a role in this eco-friendly revolution. Deforestation, a major climate concern, is responsible for nearly a third of all carbon dioxide emissions since 1850. C16's groundbreaking approach, backed by the Gates Foundation and Elemental, promises a greener and more sustainable future. #SustainableTech #C16Biosciences #GreenInnovation #Sustainability #ClimateAction
