Pangolins are an important species that affect the structure, function, and health of forest ecosystems - yet the most trafficked mammal in the world. “Defenders of the Hidden” follows actor and WildAid ambassador Wang Yibo’s journey in search of the Chinese pangolin. Through the real-life stories from scientists, forest rangers, community residents, conservation organizations, and science education workers that Wang meets along the way, the audience learns of the efforts, challenges, and impact of these ordinary heroes seeking to save the Chinese pangolin. With this docuseries, WildAid & China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA) hope to increase public awareness and understanding of pangolin conservation as well as create an emotional connection to the species, ultimately leading to a brighter future for Chinese pangolins. Although the species’ vulnerability is acute, there's hope for recovery. Recent data shows that wild pangolins have been detected in more than 70 areas in 10 provinces across China, indicating that wild populations are growing - inspiring many top-down conservation actions on a national level. The series records the efforts made by the Chinese government & the public to protect pangolins to maintain public attention and support for pangolin conservation, enhance public confidence in the future of pangolins, & motivate all parties involved in conservation to continue the fight. The “Defenders of the Hidden” premiere event in Beijing in July, welcomed 500 influential guests in person & reached 5.1 million via livestream. Showcasing the true stories of pangolin conservation workers, the series has now launched on the Youku Documentary Channel in China & globally on YouTube. #nature #ecosystems #biodiversity #wildlife #conservation

But that’s because I’m a #Firearms cloner autist who doesn’t care about their practical utility. But for a #Military, #Police, or other #Government entity looking to put their surplus #Weapons to use in 2024; adding rails, stocks, optics, and similar are often a much better proposition than sourcing new weapons.

Absolutely nothing personal and not a declaration to be made “real quick” on a social media post. I think this post is highly irresponsible and incorrect on the subject of sexual harrassment in particular, and the degree of harm current trends exact on servicemembers. It seems to me there is potentially some unacknowledged privilege that this Marine may have enjoyed. I tend to find there is either denial, or a lack of understanding, of the insidious nature of exploitative power dynamics and norms when I see, perhaps well intended, declarations like this. It troubles me more when older female veterans, especially past leaders, make these claims setting themselves aside from the herd. However, assertions like these, which are not novel, are misguided, nonetheless. The degree to which military sexual misconduct harm compares with civilian society is immaterial — apples to oranges. Unfortunately, though, even with acknowledged steps in the right direction, which I have dedicated my time and resources since prior to the Invisible War film leaves me with another conclusion. I believe a paradox exists. While the culture is making strides to build a foundation, and a majority of a servicemembers experiences are usually positive on the whole, the degree to which military sexual misconduct, sexually violating incidents, behaviors and norms, harm is disproportionate to the degree of positive, enriching, military experiences the military experience exacts on servicemembers. Experiences such as education, training, personal growth and life long bonds. For the degree of harm exacted on sexual misconduct survivors alone, I think social media should be used more carefully to acknowledge progress. And, that progress, should be measured and declared by those with historical knowledge and experience, working on fundamental policy, who work with at large and current servicemember victims, as well as those who simultaneously are, or work with active professionals in the field. I do work with all cohorts, and have that historical background, and I respectfully disagree with these assertions. V/R Colleen
