To kick off 2024, I am sharing my top 5 favorite impact pieces from the Health Evolution Fellowship. The next is number 4: "Advancing food as medicine is critical. Cross-industry partnerships can make it sustainable." Toyin Ajayi, MD, Co-Founder & CEO, Cityblock; Shavana Howard, Senior Advisor for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA); Mikelle Moore, former Chief Community Health Officer, Intermountain Healthcare; and Fidji Simo, CEO, Instacart collaborated on this piece. It recognizes how our health system (especially focused on tech, government, and providers) can collaborate to improve people's access to healthful foods and illuminates the perspectives of people who qualify for SNAP and WIC but face barriers, including stigma, to accessing it. Fidji Simo shared some interesting points about why, when people shop for food online, they tend to choose healthier food than when they shop in person. Toyin Ajayi touches on the impact of medically tailored meals for certain populations. Knowing what we know now about food as medicine, we believe this is a great read to kick off 2024. https://lnkd.in/e2KqWeZ7

Master Coach, DaVita University School of Leadership | Senior Director, Wisdom (Leadership & Organizational Development) | Integral Coach™
How is what you do as an organization aligned with you personally? At DaVita we focus on work and life “alignment” (not balance). This alignment of vision & values makes a huge impact on fulfillment. That is why I am honored to serve alongside Kapil Vashistha to reduce suffering in the world through all we do to innovate and care for our patients, our teammates and our communities. At the recent Harvard Health Care Club Conference, Kapil Vashistha, senior vice president at DaVita, spoke about collaboration across both established and emerging health care organizations and the importance of putting patients first. Sharing a useful infographic on best practices of becoming a health literate organization. What are you hearing about the reading level? It used to be 6th grade but I have talked to a few organizations that are using 3rd grade.
Family Voices presented on the best practices and the importance of becoming a health literate organization to five demonstration sites across the country as part of the Enhancing Systems of Care for Children with Medical Complexity initiative. Thank you to AcademyHealth and our other project partners for the success of this presentation! Check out what they learned: https://lnkd.in/epbyVGqw

Last week, I had the privilege of delivering a program on Gratitude—The Center of Our Well-Being Ecosystem to the committed employees of NOAA Fisheries, entrusted with the stewardship of our nation's ocean resources and their habitats—"Healthy Ecosystems." This experience brought to mind the tireless dedication of physicians and nurses, guardians of the health and vitality of their patients and the communities they serve—another "Healthy Ecosystem." As necessary, is their own Healthy Ecosystem, which can be cultivated and sustained by fostering knowledge and employing tools rooted in the latest research and evidence-based practices in gratitude, neuroscience, and psychology. Excited to share that I will be sitting as a panelist for National Endeavors, LLC's upcoming ACO Essentials conference next month! When Greg Shockey first reached out to me to join their conference as a Social Determinants of Health expert, I knew from previous conferences and interactions that this would be well worth the time. If you're in the value-based care space or serve it, I encourage you to attend! If you will be in the Scottsdale area around February 21st and are interested in catching up, please let me know! #socialdeterminantsofhealth #sdoh #populationhealth #populationhealthmanagement #aco #vbc #valuebasedhealthcare
