Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Columbia University School of Nursing The Center for Healthcare Delivery Research and Innovations
New pub out led by Alex Hoyt, Jason Lucey and Susan Kelly-Weeder on comparing NPs who start with a DNP vs. NPs who get it later. Not surprisingly, we find NPs who return for a doctorate do more teaching and admin than those who begin their careers with a DNP. Contrary to other studies, we find that that the DNP is making a difference in NP autonomy. Compared with NPs w/o DNPs, NPs who begin with a DNP have: ✅ 62% higher odds of self-employment ✅ 57% higher odds of billing using their own NPI number ✅ 49% higher odds of having their own DEA number This is some of the first large-scale evidence supporting the DNP out of MGH Institute of Health Professions, Columbia University School of Nursing & The George Washington University School of Nursing. https://lnkd.in/gf9jUiPR
