“I look forward to an America which will not be afraid of grace and beauty” – President John F. Kennedy Did you know that 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence? As we reflect on our nation’s progress and acknowledge the work yet to be done, our collective cultural journey gives us the opportunity to engage, evolve, and elevate the narrative of our nation’s story. Join us in celebrating The Promise of US, a yearlong commemoration of our Nation at 250. We will ask questions together, like “What does America sound like?” and invite artists, audiences, and communities alike to join in creating concerts, convenings, new works, and conversation across the country. Starting today, we invite you to share your unique creativity and identity by submitting a self-portrait for Portraits of US–a virtual wall of faces that showcases the amazing diversity and potential of our people. There is a new space —822–in Basel. The image corresponds to the work of Charlotte von Engelberg. There are two aspects that speak positively about the way Basel perceives contemporary art and culture: the amount of available studio space and the proliferation of very carefully programmed independent art spaces. What does it mean? That the art community tries again and again to integrate itself in the fabric of the civil society; that the artistic community is aware of itself as a group and not only as an individual and that it embraces the social creating a positive environment.

'Tached, Tattooed & Talented. Creative lead for B2B and B2C clients. Delivering Big Ideas and turning the boring into the unforgettable. All thoughts and ideas expressed are my own
I wouldn't be who I am without the arts. And it's time that we re-wrote the script on the Arts in all their forms, and start giving them the respect they deserve. We're seeing music, art, and other creative subjects pushed to the side, reserved for those that can afford it as a luxury, rather than being available to everyone. Education is now a factory for maths and sciences, with schools measured on the results in a small selection of subjects. Subjects that are 'useful for the world of work'. In some respects, I can understand that. There are careers that are underpinned by a working knowledge of facts and figures. But there's a world of industries that aren't. The creative industries consistently bring in huge amounts of money for our economy, as of 2023* it was seen to be contributing £108 billion in gross value added (GVA) annually. It's far from the highest. But it's a huge chunk of wealth that can only be grown with proper investment at early stages, and by giving it the proper attention that it deserves. It's time we championed creativity in all aspects of our life, and breathed new life into an industry that continues to grow. The arts aren't a fringe activity, they're inherent in each part of our culture. *Source: https://lnkd.in/eGrez6R4.
“The arts are not a fringe activity.” Joan Bakewell said that the arts are "an ongoing conversation that this culture has within itself", urging the Government to "take notice of that, back it, support it".

“90% of the new generation of art collectors don't believe that the art world is welcoming or inclusive. While most describe it positively as inspiring, thought-provoking, enriching, and innovative, they still have their concerns with the art world: 1 in 3 believe the art world is elitist 1 in 4 describe it as pretentious 1 in 5 believe it is intimidating" (Source: Avant Arte, "Collector Report 2024) 🤔 ✨ Embracing the Next Gen of Art Collectors: Without a doubt, it is time for the traditional art market and its participants to begin embracing the next generation of #artcollectors.
