The 11th r3.0 International (online) Conference 'Tipping Points on Tipping Points - Building Necessary Collapse Resilience' on September 10/11 has four main themes, each with extraordinary speakers. We shift to Session 2, called ‘Municipalities & Bioregions: Place-Based Collapse Resilience.’ As 2024 marks a conscious shift for r3.0 into a primary focus on place-based engagement, specifically at the nested scales of municipalities and bioregions, these represent the most promising contexts for navigating collapse with resilience. This session focuses on the systemic innovations that communities are seeding to ruggedize in the context of increasing complexity and potential crashes. Here's the set of speakers we will discuss with. Next week we'll discuss their individual contributions in more depth in our daily posts. Get your ticket at https://lnkd.in/e8QSWjVX and be with us for all 4 conference topics, discussed on September 10/11 online.

Just one more round in our final sprint until the start of the 11th r3.0 International Online Conference 'Tipping Points On Tipping Points - Building Necessary Collapse Resilience', happening September 10 & 11. See all information you need at https://lnkd.in/e8QSWjVX. What are the most urgent discussions that we now need to have in times of the polycrisis and directions to (global) resilience? Here's #4 of 4 that we're covering in depth at the conference: Thresholds & Allocations: Respecting Carrying (and Caring) Capacities of the Commons Limits to Growth Lead Author Dana Meadows coined the term “overshoot and collapse” to describe the dynamic of transgressing carrying capacity thresholds, leading to inevitable systemic breakdowns. To counteract overshoot and collapse, we need to respect the carrying capacities of ecological and social systems in our collective commons, which we can best do by focusing on our collective caring capacity (to use the term Daniel Christian Wahl inventing in conversation with us.) Get your ticket now, this is a not-to-miss discussion focused on necessary interventions: https://lnkd.in/e8QSWjVX.

Due to Hurricane Helene activities, we’re a bit late in recognizing #WorldMaritimeDay, but we do not overlook the importance of global shipping in our daily lives. The Eastern Transportation Coalition’s 20-states are home to 28-major seaports. Our states represent 48% of the U.S. population and maintain the 3rd largest economy in the world. Suffice to say, the goods coming in and out of these ports is critical in supporting not only our economy, but that of the entire world. ⛴️⚓️ Our states also support a thriving cruise industry, with the top 3 cruise ports in the world. In 2023, these 3 ports alone transported nearly 16 million passengers. 🚢🛳️
Happy #WorldMaritimeDay from the Port of Baltimore! Today, we celebrate the vital role that ocean shipping and the maritime industry play in our world. Ports like Baltimore play significant roles in global commerce and provide incredible economic benefits. According to NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, in 2022, the maritime industry contributed a total of $476 billion in economic impact and supported 2.4 million jobs. #WMD
