Over 1 billion people live with obesity. There is an urgent need for a universal definition and diagnosis. 🆕 A Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology Commission introduces a new model with categories: clinical obesity (an illness) and pre-clinical obesity. This reframing identifies medically meaningful targets for prevention and treatment. Joe Nadglowski, patient advocate and Commissioner, adds: “Studies show that the way obesity is usually talked about adds to weight stigma, making it harder to prevent, manage and treat. The approach proposed by this Commission can help clear up misconceptions.” Read in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology ➡️ hubs.li/Q032BcRK0 Alt: An infographic panel for the Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology Commission on clinical obesity.

Once differentiated into ' Healthy and Unhealthy ' obesity , sharper lines required to be drawn , that has been now accomplished. What is crucial however is a) Therapeutic Maturity b ) Responsible Therapeutics. Haphazard usage of drugs has already led many to leave the recent ones.... Obesity is largely a lifestyle-related condition, meaning it can be effectively addressed through sustainable changes. While new treatments may provide quicker weight loss, they cannot substitute for addressing the root causes—such as emotional and mindset management, along with a low-insulin diet. It’s important to reinforce this with our patients/clients, empowering them to take ownership of their health rather than relying solely on pharmaceutical approaches.

Not helpful: 1. Medical community publishing of lymphatic disorders (Lipedema, 1940 Mayo Clinic) but NIH Lipedema Standard of Care published 2021. NIH Lymphatic Section directed 2022 by Congress- the one system that was left off of human body mapping project (and which Director Frances Collins told Congress wasn’t needed and brain neurology experts only realized the lymphatic system is present in the head and is how large molecules such as hormones bypass the brain-blood barrier). Fortunately an entire medical specialty has been built in just 10-15 years from medical school curricula to current clinician education and 70+ Global Lymphatic Centers of Excellence. The lymphatic system is the body’s fat transfer system and carries fat, lymph, toxins, 200 daily manufactured and spent signaling proteins…. Lymphatic disorders affect 11% US (7 million). 2. The Treat and Reduce Obesity Act in US Congress is out for comment to CMA (Medicare) due today. Obesity drugs are prohibited Medicare unless diagnosed for diabetes or cardiac issues. This pribits many lymphatic patients who have a structural fat issue, progressive due to leakage and fibrosis. Glycoaminoglycans that are gel-like, hard to move by muscle contraction and outside channel.
