The time for regionalised vaccine manufacturing has arrived. The title of a new Comment in The Lancet ➡️ https://hubs.li/Q0341YNj0 The current approach to global vaccine research and development, manufacturing, and distribution has expanded routine immunisation, achieving substantial reductions in disease burden over recent decades and helping to save lives and protect economies. But there are limitations. “Regionalised vaccine manufacturing offers a path forward; it can enable equitable access for regions, alignment with regional priorities, and rapid response to outbreaks”, say authors.
