Logistics Professional & Leader | Operations, Sales, Marketing & Sustainability | Avid Learner | Providing real value to the transportation industry
My 6-year-old daughter eats her blueberry muffin and as she's jamming the last piece into her mouth with both hands, she runs off to the living room where her brothers are watching a movie. 🏃♀️ I loudly proclaim, "Baby, get your cute butt back here!" She runs back looking confused. So I then say to her... "When you're done eating, you need to be aware of the way you leave the table. We need to leave the table looking better than the way we found it. When you sat down there was tucked-in chair, a plate, a muffin, and a cup of water for you. The table wasn't dirty, but there was a lot of stuff on the table. When you're finished, you should clean everything up and leave it looking nicer than the way you found it - wiped down, dishes put away, and chair retucked in." That's how we should approach many situations in life. Working to leave something better off than the way you found it. Leading others. Leading a business. An updated home. You're going through the motions and doing the bare minimum otherwise. #leadershipdevelopment #leadership #improvement #growth

What does the future hold for your industry? Many leaders try to avoid change as much as possible. They have a business model that has worked for a very long time and so "if it ain't broke...why fix it?" Those are the famous last words of companies like Blockbuster, Kodak, Borders, and Circuit City to name a few. The problem is that technology is changing everything so fast, that what was new yesterday has been replaced today. Leaders who fail to not only ask "what's next" but fail to ask themselves "how am I going to get there before anyone else" will kill their company. Guaranteed. Follow my old boss Steve Ells' example. Always keep innovating. Always keep pushing. Always be ahead of the curve. Want to know how? Let me know.
Love this.

Founder, Leadership & EQ Coach 👉 equipping leaders & entrepreneurs with the social, relational, communication & decision-making skills they need to BE and DO their very best - and create #IMPACT
When big motivational voices say something on SM, even when it’s fake, people believe it, no questions asked. 👇 Just saw this post from Dan Millman (had no idea who he is till today) posting about Chef Peter Lammer, saying he has a restaurant in Germany. HE DOES NOT! It’s fake information. 👉 Peter Lammer is an excellent chef in Salzburg Austria 🇦🇹 whom I personally met (see photo in comments 👇) You see, people follow, believe everything without even checking facts, whether the information is accurate or not. Don’t be like that! Always seek the truth! In every little thing you read, see, hear. Make it a habit to check facts! Because 👉 if you don’t look for the truth in small things, you won’t look for it in bigger, more important things either 👉 just because someone has many followers does not mean everything they say is a fact, or true 👉 just because everyone believes something to be true, does not make it true 👉 being able to tell what’s real and what’s not is essential in today’s society, especially on SM/online, so develop your critical thinking skills and use them in the smallest aspects of your life as well 👉 make fact checking a new habit in your life What’s your experience with people believing everything they see, hear, read? Do you find it a battle quite impossible to win? 🤷🏼♀️ Let’s continue to #DigDeeper⛏️🤜 #truth #criticalthinking #change

Serving small and medium-sized Saskatchewan businesses to create stability and clarity in times of change.
Do implict expectations, unassigned work or "shared" responsibilities exist in your organization? Ignored operational needs as significant as establishing team processes or as minor as restocking the supply cabinet can lead to frustration, disengagement or diminished trust. When we leave things ambiguous, we're often pleasantly surprised that responsible adults step in and fill the void. Be careful! Those things aren't happening by magic. Someone is selflessly doing them, often atpersonal cost and without appreciation. I wish this wasn't so true, but The Magic Coffee Table is often happening in our organizations (and in our homes!). https://lnkd.in/dEJNXQpc Leaders, please be explicit about these needs and acknowledge the time given and the value created by those who do this work. Individuals, if you feel like a martyr for your thankless efforts, the company is healthier and more sustainable if you help them see the work you're putting in. They're likely satisfied that it's happening by magic, otherwise. What is happening by magic in your organization? If we were more explict about the work we need to do and the value it creates, what's possible?

President of Business Relations at Orange County Soccer Club. Podcast host, transatlantic trade specialist.
Every month or so I sit down for a pompously-named ‘Presidents Lunch’ with Chris Cusiter (who actually is ‘only’ the CEO of Alexander Murray & Company). It started just after the pandemic (he was the first person I lunched with after 16 months of no restaurants) and it’s been a regular meeting since. He used to be a professional sportsman and I used to, basically, be a professional whisky drinker so we both know a little about each other’s industries. We talk upward management, leadership, strategy, innovation, motivation, frustrations, opportunities. We share challenges, we counsel, we cajole, we call BS (as they say in America) and we do it all in a positive environment of mutual benefit. We’re vulnerable, honest, often rude (in a collegiate British way) and we both get a lot out of it. We happen to be working on a secret whisky/football collaboration which we can’t talk about yet but the value isn’t transactional business - it’s sharing with someone in an adjacent industry with whom you can talk openly. So the message from this post is whether you are junior or senior, a CEO or even a President, get yourself a peer from outside your industry and take turns buying each other lunch (self-important name optional). Both of you, both of your teams and both of your companies will benefit. (And ideally find someone who runs a whisky company because the birthday gifts are better…)

You guys already know I get most of my favourite management tips from TV … and The Bear season three was no exception! Early on, Carmy shares his non-negotiables with his team for the new restaurant, and they were worthy enough for me to sit up and pay attention (read: whip out the notes section of my phone) 1️⃣ Respect tradition 2️⃣ Push boundaries 3️⃣ Be excellent every day I am obsessed with them – a balance of old v new, ‘how we’ve always done things’ vs ‘YOLO, let’s give it a go’. I think all teams need a blend of both. I'm keen to hear if you have non-negotiables with your team … or just your thoughts on the season (but, no spoilers!) #TheBear #Management #MarketingAgency

Free embodiment drop-in today (Monday Jan 8) where we consider: how might moving from “center” transform my leadership? Join us at 1pm EST / 10am PST: https://lnkd.in/g54fkHtk Embodiment practices help us put our values as leaders into action. When we move from center, we take action in alignment with those values, remaining situated squarely within ourselves, and our moment-to-moment experience. This means we can show up authentically, in choice, and bring all aspects of ourselves – our unique characteristics, our strengths, passions, and imagination — to our work in the world.
Welcome! You are invited to join a meeting: OnVoice Embodiment Drop-In. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting.
