We had the opportunity to sit down with Jonathan Luiten (BA, CAIB, CIP), President of Valiant Insurance Brokers Inc. down the street from us in Fort Langley, to discuss general insurance. He gave great insight into what to look for with general insurance for your home & business, as well as what you should speak with your insurance broker about–& how often to reach out with updates. Thanks for joining us, Jonathan. Can you tell us about yourself & your approach to general insurance? I’ve been in the insurance industry since 1997 & the thing that I’ve learned along the way is that people like to be treated with respect, & they also like information. So one of the strengths that I brought to the table when I started Valiant 5 years ago was a commitment to make sure that everybody understood what it was that they were buying, what it was that made their policy tick, where the exclusions are in the policy, things like that. So just treating people with respect, being honest & bringing integrity to the table by spending time with them, that’s kind of how we’re setting ourselves apart. We’re very good at making sure that people don’t feel like just another number. We’re not here to rush people out the door. We need to understand the risk & make sure that they understand what it is that they’re buying. So that’s kind of how we’re setting ourselves apart & that’s what I wanted to do when I started this business, was to make sure that people felt like individuals & not a number.
