96% of U.S. public schools offer mental health services to their students. But homeschooled children have no guaranteed access to services like these, which puts them at unique risk for negative outcomes. We believe homeschooled children have the right to mental health care. Sign the Bill of Rights for Homeschooled Children if you agree. https://bit.ly/3Qhg6WM #Homeschool #Homeschooling #MentalHealth #WorldTeenMentalWellnessDay

We're so excited to be partnering with 80+ school safety professionals throughout the Kent ISD today to provide a day-long, evidence-based training surrounding Youth Mental Health First Aide(Y-MHFA). The need for more support has never been greater, as national statistics show startling considerations: • One in six youth and adolescents will experience a mental health condition in any given time; • Nearly half of teens (44%) report feeling persistently sad and hopeless; and • 50% of all mental illnesses begin by age 14, and 75% by the mid-20s. Hope Network has been instrumental in deploying the Mental Health Education Project (MHEP) across West Michigan. The overarching goal of the program is to train individuals to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental disorders, how to safely de-escalate crisis situations involving individuals with a mental illness, to provide education on resources and services available in the community for individuals with a mental illness, and how to link them to such resources and services. #MentalHealth #MentalHealthFirstAid

"Research indicates that SEL programming significantly raises test scores while it lowers levels of emotional distress; disruptive behavior; and alcohol, tobacco, or other drug use. SEL is thus an effective approach for addressing the SS/HS core elements: safe learning environments and violence prevention activities; substance abuse prevention; behavioral, social, and emotional supports; mental health services; and early childhood SEL programs." - U.S. Department of Education #earlychildhoodeducation #socialandemotionallearning #childdevelopment #educationmatters #SEL #wellbeing #SELResearch

A new event in May with three champions and advocates for families! Children’s Mental Health Acceptance Week, previously known as Awareness Week, has a long history. Join us for a rich discussion about the history, evolution, and future of this important campaign as we pass the torch from SAMHSA mental health champion Liz Sweet (retired) to Carol Cecil (incumbent). Learn more about how you can promote the message of acceptance of mental health challenges for children, youth, and families. https://ow.ly/2Ntp50RouwW #CMHAW2024 #AcceptAdvocateAct #SocialJusticeForFamilies
