Their Demonstrator Churches project, supported by Benefact Trust, is helping almost 60 churches work towards net zero by the end of 2025. What’s driving this ambitious target? Julian Atkins, Net Zero Programme Director for The Church of England, explains in this insightful clip. 🎙 Watch the full video by clicking the link in Benefact Trust's post below 👇 #ClimateChange #DemonstratorChurches #WRSInsuranceBrokers
Ask Julian: Why is the Church of England setting such an ambitious net zero target? With the ambition of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030, The Church of England is taking action to help protect our planet for future generations. This includes their Demonstrator Churches project, funded with support from Benefact Trust, which aims to help 60 churches achieve net zero (or close to it) by the end of 2025. This initiative will provide valuable learning opportunities for churches across the country, and is one of a series of Church of England projects designed to support dioceses, parishes, and other buildings in their care in achieving net zero. But why such an ambitious target? Julian Atkins, Net Zero Programme Director for The Church of England, answers in this clip: 🎬 Watch the full video with Julian here: https://bit.ly/4gmRwhc #netzero #ecochurch #climatechange #demonstratorchurches

As I reflect on the Net Zero Scotland Projects Conference, it occurred to me that the conversation about Net Zero has changed from ‘why?’ to ‘how?’. There seems general acceptance (at least from those attending the conference, although I accept that this is not a representative sample of broader society!) that reaching Net Zero is essential to reduce the impacts of climate change (the ‘why’), and focus now is on ‘how’ are we going to do it. Attendees heard some excellent presentations from a broad range of technologies, solutions and services. So, let’s get on with it! In case you weren’t able to attend, you might be interested in catching up the presentations. CWP Global Cofounder Dimitar Enchev joined a panel alongside John Kerry, Maroš Šefčovič, and Beata Daszynska-Muzyczka at the Green Transition Forum 4.0 this Wednesday, June 26th. In a thought-provoking discussion on the key priorities for climate action, Dimitar highlighted the immense potential of the green transition for Southeast Europe. Rather than viewing it as a challenge, he emphasized how this transition can position Southeast Europe as a vital energy supplier to the rest of Europe, thanks to the region's abundant potential and complementary weather patterns. John Kerry underscored the importance of nations meeting their commitments and acknowledged the global nature of these efforts. He resonated with Dimitar's perspective, agreeing that the green transition is a significant opportunity to create new jobs and offer substantial returns on investment. #GreenTransition #ClimateAction #SoutheastEurope #RenewableEnergy #CWP #Sustainability #GreenJobs #InvestmentOpportunities

La Poste Groupe: a forerunner in SBTi-certified Net-Zero I am proud to announce that the Net Zero trajectory of our parent company La Poste Groupe has been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), making La Poste Groupe the only SBTi-certified transportation, logistics and banking company in France. This achievement testifies to our Group-wide commitment to helping resolve the challenges of climate change. At Geopost we full-heartedly share the Sustainable vision of La Poste Groupe. Our goal is to become the international reference in sustainable delivery, and decarbonisation is a core pillar of our approach. We are moving away from combustion engine vehicles to primarily electric vehicles for last mile deliveries, with our current low-emission fleet numbering more than 9,000 vehicles. Our objective for 2035 is to have a fully low-emission last mile fleet. We are also actively working on developing our network of urban depots, bringing us closer to the final consumer, as well as diversifying our mid- and long-distance transport to include biogas, HVO and electric. Electrification, however, is but one action within our decarbonisation strategy. We are also optimising logistics assets and improving energy efficiency in operations such as for vehicle loading, parcel bundling and route planning, along with energy efficiency programmes for facilities. To reach these goals, our sustainability and finance teams have combined synergies to create an innovative Carbon Budget allowing us to track and manage our progress to net zero. The Carbon Budget both strengthens governance around our decarbonisation actions and brings together the financial and non-financial streams within our business. In this way, we involve an array of actors in our efforts while closely monitoring our progress as we strive to make a positive contribution to global sustainability challenges. Our teams at La Poste Groupe, La Banque Postale and Geopost are united in acting together for sustainability. #sustainability #NetZero #lastmile #logistics #parceldelivery https://lnkd.in/eYNzNYKG

Have you ever considered the key role of Indigenous leadership in Canada's net-zero mission? MEJ Writer Chloe Stoneburgh wrote all about it in her most recent article! 🌎 See a brief summary here: "Canada’s 2050 net-zero and electrification goals will most likely involve expanding the country’s clean energy infrastructure beyond its current network. With this expansion inevitably intersecting with Indigenous land, integrating Indigenous communities in the decision-making process becomes an ethical and legal imperative. Beyond this, it also offers a strategic advantage: Indigenous leadership, with its unique traditional knowledge and holistic land management practices, can provide critical insights on how to preserve local biodiversity and minimize ecological disruption. Indigenous-led initiatives like the 3NE solar farm in Alberta often also emphasize fostering community resilience. By embracing this leadership, Canada can create a sustainable energy future for all of its citizens while also advancing reconciliation."

#CarbonOffsets and #CarbonCredits have become the talk of the town again after #SBTi’s controversial decision to allow the use of carbon credits to offset greenhouse gas emissions to help address #Scope3emissions, a move that was criticised by its employees and experts in the field. The decision, said to be backed by the Bezos Fund, was, however, denounced by WWF, one of the founders of SBTi, and many others. Due to the public backlash, SBTi later clarified its position by saying no changes had been made to the current standards. 💡 But what are carbon offsets and carbon credits in the first place? Here’s the difference between the two concepts, which are often used interchangeably. ❓ Do you think a more reliable system will emerge to make carbon offsets and credits a significant solution to achieving net-zero or Paris Climate Agreement targets? Comment below 👇 #ClimateAction #ClimateChange #CarbonNeutral #NetZero #CarbonMarket
