  • £33,000 to help boys without fathers thrive with Chapter2 76% of young people in custody have an absent father. A report by The Centre for Social Justice evidenced that 'family breakdown, and in particular fatherlessness, appears to be a key driver of gang culture.' This lack of good male role models means that many boys discover masculinity through an alternative, and potentially more damaging, path. In response to this, Chapter2 is providing long-term, dedicated, one-to-one male mentors for boys growing up with an absent father. With the support of a Benefact Trust Community Impact Grant, they’ll be appointing two new staff members to the small team to help recruit, train, and support new mentors. “Chapter2 has a growing waiting list of boys in need of a positive male role model in their life. The grant from the Benefact trust will provide more Mentor Managers who support each boy and their mentor throughout the mentoring journey. This means more fatherless boys are provided with a long-term dedicated male mentor for at least two years and most likely on into adulthood.” - Richard Kay, Founder of Chapter2 Find out more about their work here: https://lnkd.in/etJsbKgF #communityimpact

A huge thanks to Simon Green, CEO, Anne Rhind, Dept CEO, and the team at YMCA MILTON KEYNES for taking the time to show Benefact Trust how they support young people at risk of homelessness and how it can be addressed in an impactful and sustained way. Over 200 young adults are housed at YMCA Milton Keynes across three tiers of housing. Through a range of holistic support (including physical and mental wellbeing) they help young adults find employment, work towards independent living and achieve their potential. The roof garden, which provides gardening opportunities, and is home to several bee colonies, is seriously impressive!

  • Celebrating Award-Winning Charities with the Christian Funders’ Forum✨ In October 2024, members of the Christian Funders' Forum, guests, and the charities they support, came together to celebrate the work of Christian charities across the UK, showcasing projects that are making a profound difference in communities. Diolch / Thank you! It was a pleasure to attend last week's St David's Day celebrations on behalf of Benefact Trust at The Chapel Royal, St James's Palace, hosted by The Church in Wales | Yr Eglwys Yng Nghymru. The Chapel Royal Choir was exceptional and, although I couldn't join in, the Welsh singing was beautiful. Benefact Trust supports Christian charities and places of worship in England, Scotland, Ireland and we would be delighted to support more projects in Wales. Interested in a career in heritage crafts? As we come to the end of National Careers Week, we’re highlighting how a career in heritage crafts can be both rewarding and impactful. Last year, we travelled to a village outside Winchester to meet QEST Benefact Trust Apprentice in Thatching, Willow. As part of our Heritage Skills for Christian Buildings grants programme, Benefact Trust has funded Willow's apprenticeship in thatching with Master Thatcher Phil Campbell. Through this apprenticeship, Willow is learning the essential skills to maintain thatched properties, including many of the thatched churches in the UK. It has been a pleasure working with QEST - Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust to support apprentices and scholars pursuing careers in heritage skills. Be the change you want to see in the world.

I was honoured to represent Benefact Trust at Buckingham Palace last week, and to meet His Majesty the King (the last time was 30 years ago in my first voluntary sector job!). The true heroes are the humanitarian aid workers being celebrated at the event 💖💖💖

Yesterday, we were privileged to attend a special reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camilla, alongside the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. This incredible event recognised the vital work of humanitarian organisations and individuals responding to global crises. A heartfelt thank you to HM King Charles for his ongoing support of humanitarian efforts and for honouring World Vision’s 75 years of emergency assistance. We were delighted to be joined by some of our amazing supporters, including Susan Tobbell, Joanna Luck from Benefact Trust, and one of World Vision UK’s inspiring Youth Advocates, Mariana Fedchyshyn. With over 300 million people predicted to need humanitarian aid in 2025, we are incredibly grateful for the support that allows us to reach so many — especially vulnerable children. 1 in 4 people receiving humanitarian aid do so through World Vision — but the need continues to outpace resources. We must do more. #WorldVision #HumanitarianAid #TogetherWeCan #RoyalRecognition #EmergencyResponse Fola Komolafe MBE DL CMgr CCMI Disasters Emergency Committee
