Tibet is such a consequential but frequently overlooked issue today. It is one of the most important examples of modern-day colonialism in that it shows how insidious, adaptive, and all-encompassing are the tools of oppression. But while economic and technological powerhouse, China, continues to try and pull the wool over the world's eyes, Tibetans around the world and inside Tibet are relentless in their hope and determination to achieve freedom. A true David-and-Goliath story, Tibet Action Institute issued a report exposing one of these tools of oppression: China's colonial boarding schools in Tibet. Check out this video I produced in which Director and Co-founder, Lhadon Tethong, talks about the work of her organization, 2024 NED Democracy Award winner Tibet Action Institute, and their report that brings to light evidence challenging China's narrative on Tibet.
Tibet Action Institute, 2024 NED Democracy Award honoree, documented the Chinese Communist Party’s attempts to erase Tibetan children's identity through colonial boarding schools. Watch the video to learn more about the report and TAI's advocacy. #DemocracyAwards

Organizational Scientist | Knowledge Transfer | Qualitative Research | Phenomenologist | Change Agent | National Security and Intelligence
Micah Zenko Steven Martin Thanks, Micah. Jim Marchio's "Analytic Tradecraft" article focuses on institutional resistance within the analytic process. Steve's comment about an explanation for such resistance is the communication dynamic between the knowledge producer and the knowledge consumers, framed as a cultural issue. I have conducted empirical research into that communication dynamic. The empirical research indicates an underlying structural dilemma. From the knowledge producer's perspective, providing clarity (i.e., the absence of tension or ambiguity) is a needed and positive value for knowledge consumers. The downside of meeting this goal is that the knowledge consumer's absorption of uncertainty increases due to inherent and empirically validated analytic decision-making dealing with ambiguity during the analytic process. From the knowledge consumer's perspective, clarity by a knowledge producer is so highly prized as to serve as a motivation that shapes producers to serve up clarity, with the downside being little motivation to trigger critical thinking by the consumer. This "dark side of clarity" dynamic hides nuance and ambiguity. https://lnkd.in/eupYXBuR
Cool new CIA article on the (largely unsuccessful) efforts of the U.S. Intelligence Community to develop a formal challenge mechanism, or "Devil's Advocacy," in the intelligence analysis production cycle.
