Starbucks will require people to buy something in order to stay or to use its bathrooms, the company announced in a policy reversal sent to store managers on Monday.
All Judges are entrusted to uphold the Constitution, protect civil rights, and ensure due process. When they fail through misconduct, bias, or disregard for the law, they undermine justice and erode public trust In Honolulu’s District Court of Hawaii (Case No. CV 23-00358 DKW-KJM) and the Hawaii Supreme Court (Case No. SCPW-24-0000463), judicial integrity has been compromised by officers who prioritize bias, coercion, or external influences over justice.Such actions subvert fairness, deny individuals their fundamental rights, and reflect a judiciary failing in its core duty to serve the public impartially. Worse, they dishonor the sacrifices of civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and countless others who gave their lives to uphold equality and justice for all. By disregarding these principles, such judges disrespect the very cause for which so many have fought and died. Exposing misconduct a public duty.Transparency is essential to maintaining the rule of law. Violations of due process, ethical standards,9-69.000 - Protection of Government Processes, demand action. To restore faith in Hawaii's courts, formal complaints, independent investigations, are necessary to ensure no judge operates above the law. SHARE!
I don’t find this infuriating as some do. It makes sense to me as that’s how I was raised. I buy gum or a drink from a gas station if I stop. It adds to the operational expense of the business you should buy something if you’re going to add to the cost of business or take space from other customers. Setting up a teams meeting and occupying space of a business without making a purchase is rude on its own.
Not sure why this is controversial. They are a business, not a public service. If there is no room for actual customers, how do they suvive?
I think ultimately it's the company discovering that the costs of having a lounge space and available bathroom, as a form of advertisement, isn't necessary anymore. They're a big enough name, and their model of quick service, whether it's through drive-thrus or in the store isn't conducive to a cozy lounge space. I'm not disappointed because I honestly thought this was already part of their model. But maybe this more explicit change in their policy might bring customers looking for that third-place, somewhere for casual discussion, to more small businesses.
Of course! No business wants lazy bums hanging around their premises. Ban also the bald ones dressed all in black, staring interminably at their computers!

That policy wasnt consistent to begin with. Just like the homless are going to fall asleep eventualy regardless of not having a home, so pedestrians need to use a toilet regardless of paying you money. Available public toilets depends on the kindness of property owners. Its going to be a very long four years if every corperat actor sees fit to model the transactional wanna be dictator.
Starbucks needs to move product idle seats don’t generate revenue. They only have 40 seats per store in some cases. Use of the bathroom by a non paying customer is a liability as most insurance don’t cover non customers and transient guests. There’s numerous cases of people having heart attacks on a public toilet. Hence the stalls don’t go to the floor in the US.

2wTerrible coffee, stale cakes. The toilets are probably their best “service”.
