Today, we pause to remember the lives lost and the countless acts of bravery that emerged from the tragic events of September 11, 2001. On this solemn day, we pay tribute to the heroes who selflessly rushed toward danger, including our brave military personnel. The unwavering courage of our military forces, firefighters, first responders, and everyday citizens stands as a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Their sacrifice and determination continue to inspire us, reminding us that even in the darkest moments, hope and unity prevail. Let's also extend our thoughts and gratitude to the families who were affected by this tragedy. Your resilience is remarkable, and your loved ones will never be forgotten. As we remember 9/11, let us come together in solidarity and remember that through adversity, we can find the strength to rebuild and move forward. 🇺🇸

Freedom is not Free...
On the coast of Normandy, on the bluffs above Omaha Beach, sits the American Military Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. Underneath its beautifully manicured lawns rest the remains of 9,380 soldiers, sailors and airmen, most of whom lost their lives during and shortly after the D-Day invasion of 6 June 1944. 80 years later, I wonder if America is deserving of such sacrifice. #freedomisnotfree #greatestgeneration

Veterans with mobility issues through being wounded, injured, illness or age, deserve to be able to travel with dignity, not be manhandked on and off aircraft like a sack of potatoes, risking injury, or death. They deserve to know their wheelchairs will not be damaged during a flight or during loading and unloading. United Airlines had the opportunity to have its replacement fleet accessible but chose not do. Janet do not wait for legislation that could force your airline to be accessible but show some humanity and humility to not only disabled veterans but all mobility disabled people, first by starting discussions with your aircraft manufacturers to make accessibility a priority. https://chng.it/XLVWt2Ls5y #unitedairlines #health #wellbeing #veterans #MemorialDay #AccessibleTravel #Wheelchairs #Disability #Transportation #aviation #AccessibleTourism #PVA #aircraft #accessibility #military #veteransaffairs
This Memorial Day, we remember those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. And to the many veterans, family members and friends of the military who have been impacted by loss and have reason to hold this day close to the heart, including our own United community members, we honor you.

Honoring Our Heroes: A Social Story for Memorial Day What is Memorial Day? It's a special day in the United States (on the last Monday of May) to remember all the brave men and women who served in the military. These are people who wear uniforms and protect our country. Why do we remember them? ️ Some of these heroes fought in battles to keep us safe, and some might not be here anymore because they died protecting our freedom. How do we celebrate? We visit cemeteries (special places where people are buried) to place flowers on their graves. We might see parades with flags and people in uniforms. (Flags represent America!) What can you do? Help hang a flag! Draw pictures to thank veterans! Spreading Awareness: As we approach Memorial Day, consider sharing resources about veterans' services or organizations supporting military families with your network. #MemorialDay #SocialStory #AutismAwareness #ThankYouVeterans #RememberingHeroes

80 years ago today, the final stages of WWII and the end of a terrible regime began. Over 7,000 allied ships operated by almost 200,000 naval personnel were dispatched to disgorge around 150,000 men onto the beaches of Normandy. By the end of the month, more than 850,000 troops, almost 150,000 vehicles and 1,140,000,000 pounds of supplies and ammunition were sent to those same beaches. Of the 4,414 Allied troops killed on D-Day, 2,501 were Americans. More than 5,000 were wounded. In the ensuing Battle of Normandy, 73,000 Allied forces were killed and 153,000 wounded. Some gave everything, and those sacrifices shaped the world balance in favor of the Allies and made the world we inhabit today possible. Take 2 minutes, quietly reflect on the folks that made that ultimate sacrifice that made your world possible. Take 2 more and think about how you yourself might be able to contribute to making the world a better place. #carpediem
