Is Formula E the fastest growing motorsport in the world right now? If not FE then which is? The all-electric Formula E series has seen its cumulative media consumption grow 20 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to reach 381 million total viewers. The series has also revealed that viewership of its live races also grew to a record high of 216 million, a ten per cent YoY increase. Jeff Dodds the new CEO of Formula E came from VirginMedia O2 – half-owned by Liberty Global. They are an active shareholder in Formula E and they do seem on a mission to attract new fans, new commercial opportunities and new market places. According to data specialist Global Data, the Formula 1 World Championship boasts a substantial annual sponsorship value estimated at $513.75 million, spread across its 22 partners. Among these partners are globally recognized brands, with notable agreements exceeding $50 million annually with industry giants like Heineken and Rolex. The success of the docu-series "Drive to Survive" has significantly contributed to the series' expansion. Remarkably, 18 out of the 22 active partners for 2024 were onboarded during or post the 2019 season, coinciding with Netflix's debut season release of the documentary series. I've been doing a fair bit of public speaking of late and one of the threads I talk about is brands not adding value with their offering and/or personalising communications with their customers. I read this article about private aviation companies offering F1 Paddock access and it made me think about the added value conversation....again. https://lnkd.in/eA3-A5s9 This is about understanding their audience (not rocket science, fly privately or fly privately to F1 cities at the time of grand prix = interest in F1) and now, with this paddock access, the brand is much more than just a private flight operator. The brand offers an exclusive experience that the client is interested in and in a competitive space this could be the difference in retaining their business.
