Luis explained how the principles of sports medicine applied by Ready Rebound translate into better outcomes for law enforcement personnel. "When an injury occurs, the healing process starts within 24 hours. Scar tissue begins to form, and if you don’t get a definitive diagnosis quickly, it can result in developing bad habits and secondary injuries," he noted. He emphasized the importance of quick intervention using a compelling example: "Look at Aaron Rodgers' injury. He got injured on Monday Night Football, and by the next morning, he was on a plane for surgery. That’s the level of speed we aim to provide for first responders." However, bureaucracy and paperwork often pose significant hurdles. "We fight against delays like unnecessary physical therapy when a board-certified surgeon has already diagnosed a torn ligament. Why delay an MRI or surgery?" Luis asked. This proactive approach ensures that first responders receive timely and effective treatment, preventing long-term issues. In a recently published article, our collaborate team from New England Baptist Hospital & Tufts Medicine discuss Return to Play at Preinjury Level After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction in Divisions II and III National Collegiate Athletic Association Student-Athletes. Our study demonstrated that the rate of RTP after ACL reconstruction in this patient population of Division II and III collegiate athletes was 77.5%, with only 50% returning to their preinjury level of competitive play. Surgical factors, such as concomitant surgeries and reinjury of ACL graft, as well as athlete-specific data, such as injury in the off-season, were statistically significant negative influences on patient outcomes.
