🌟 Happy National Girls and Women in Sports Day! 🌟
Today, we're celebrating the achievements of girls and women in sports! At PPA, we believe in the importance of fostering girls' love of sport all year long. From our passionate female coaches to our dedicated players, we're committed to providing a supportive environment where girls can thrive and excel in soccer and basketball. Let's continue to empower the next generation of female athletes! #PlayOn
Girls who play sport become women who lead.
EVERYONE deserves equal OPPORTUNITY in sport...but that isn't the case at the moment. 1 in 2 girls will drop out of sport by the age of 20.
It's our mission to change that. For YOU, for YOUR daughters, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, friends.
Be part of the change. We're at a moment in time where we can accelerate what the future looks like for women in sport. Help us build on that momentum and consider becoming a Her Sport MVP.
With your support, we can continue to create cultural change through Visibility, Education, Policy and Research.
Did you know that over 60% of our digital audience surveyed believe Her Sport has positively impacted their participation in sport? Moreover, since we founded, we have delivered workshops to over 12,000 participants and in schools, 86% of students that attended were more likely to continue sport throughout their lifetime.
We are making an impact and your support goes a long way.
Be part of the change. Become an MVP today.

"Boys are finding it hard to break free from the expectation that to be masculine they must be good at sport, strong and dominant. This stereotyping not only creates a negative environment for those boys who don’t like sport, but critically it excludes girls from sport."
Changing the Narrative in Sport requires education and support among both males and females. Thanks Clare Morley (nee Goatman) and Women in Sport for expanding on the importance of male allies in sport and redefining stereotypes.

Creating male allies for girls in sport is absolutely critical. An insightful piece of research from Women in Sport that holds up the mirror to all of us.

Nearly 33% of girls stop playing football by their late teens, compared to only 10% of their male counterparts. The reason? The influential voice of today’s society.
In a recent survey we carried out, we discovered the huge impact that match kit has on the experience of female players.
Here’s some good news:
- 69% of girls’ clubs have begun offering alternative colours to the conventional white shorts.
- 37% of girls’ clubs are making sanitary products available.
- 80% of coaches are making an effort to recruit female players for the role.
The journey for equal opportunities and experiences is far from over, but through education and empowerment, we have the ability to make real, life-changing impacts on women and girls through sport.
At Gift of Kit, we are ambassadors of this change and we wholeheartedly believe in creating an environment that’s not only inclusive, but celebratory of women in sports.

Sports is a beautiful, interactive, mostly competitive outlet for everyone to do what they are good at. However, women often face discrimination if they love and play sports. We share why sports are not gender specific in this conversation.

With March Madness (2024) coming to an end, let's take a moment to reflect on the representation, participation, and growth of female athletes in sports. According to recent statistics, the average final four tickets for women in 2024 were priced at $2,300. This begs the question: what can we do to improve media representation, participation, and growth for female athletes in sports? Let's continue to support and empower women in sports, both on and off the court. #MarchMadness#FemaleAthletes#SportsRepresentation#EmpowerWomen
When does competition start with women? And what is healthy and what isn't? For many Gen X women it began in primary school and we carried it into our careers. We thought there were certain traits that were less desirable in women and we labelled women as aggressive or 'bitchy' if they tried to stick their necks out. Competition can of course be healthy if it provides you with the impetus to do something new or to push yourself to be better. Are we playing fair ? Breaking down barriers for Women in Sports 💪
I recently had the privilege of hearing from inspirational women like Brigitte Henriques, the first female President of CNOSF and Vice President of FFF, and Catherine MOYON DE BAECQUE, President of the Commission for the Fight against Sexual Violence and Discrimination of CNOSF.
The round table discussion focused on crucial topics of diversity and inclusion in sports competitions, particularly highlighting the challenges faced by women. Their experiences and insights were truly inspiring, shedding light on the barriers women continue to face globally.
While progress has been made, there's still much to do to achieve full gender parity. Nonetheless, it's heartening to witness gradual changes. Every step forward, no matter how small, contributes to a more inclusive and equitable future. 💪
Let's keep advocating for diversity, breaking down barriers, and empowering women in sports and beyond. Together, we can create a more inclusive world where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. 🌍
Special thanks to Karoline Strauss and Junko Takagi for leading this conversation, and to the ESSEC Sports Chair and the ESSEC Leadership and Diversity Chair for giving us the opportunity to meet such inspiring people. 🙌 #BreakingBarriers#WomenInSports#DiversityAndInclusion
Opposing trans athletes in girls' sports is 'White supremacist patriarchy:' National Organization for Women
How in the worlde did race get into this discussion? Are we now to believe that all differing opinions have a racially oppressive component? If so, we need to abandon the concept of a race blind society, voluntarily segregate based on race, and sponsor objective competition between races. It is well past time as a society to step back and objectively agree on what good looks like in race relations and how to objectively measure progress to achieving "good".

If you're interested in women's sports and Title IX, I recommend Sarah Barker's substack, TheFemaleCategory. Here's part of her response to a recent NYT op-ed that argues (incoherently) against sex-based sport categories:
"Up until 2003, sports organizations were committed to keeping males out of women's sports because it was women's sports. Transgender and DSD athletes were/are not targeted for being trans or DSD. The condition that makes them fall afoul of the rules is that they are male, not female. Female is not nor ever has been a subjective notion ... A female is a human whose body developed along a Mullerian pathway designed to produce large gametes, ova. Because of these developmental differences between men and women that begin in the womb, women are biologically unique from men in ways that specifically impact sports performance. This is one of the few objective, energetically studied, and easily verified truths that exists in our world. It's lazy and disingenuous to suggest otherwise." -Sarah Barker, TheFemaleCategory
