Make sure you have SMART goals in place! Talking about not just setting goals for our departments but setting Specific, Measurable, Aligned, Reachable, and Time-bound ones. Where am I going with this? Well it goes with out saying that OKRs and KPIs coexist perfectly, but a lot of times, leaders miss out on identifying the differences between KPIs and OKRs. While keeping to focus on the importance of both, one must ensure that the team distinguishes the difference. Disaster happens when leaders cannot draw a fine line between the two either! KPIs must measure the performance along the journey while OKRs set the destinations along the path of success. Both are necessary, but not having a deep understanding of their nature or not conveying it to the team definitely results in an unsuccessful implementation of them.
