Hi everyone, my name is Carly. I am the occupational therapy supervisor here at the studio and today I'm going to talk to you about using some treatments in your session. First thing I would like to touch on is you want to make sure you're incorporating different tactile materials into the century bin. So here we have beans, these soft dinosaurs, these fuzzy little walls and then we have pipe cleaners that are also fuzzy Easter eggs that provide a rough sensation. One of the first things you can work on with the Century bin is working on your fine motor skills. So having the child use of instagress to isolate their fingertips and. Pick up this small beats. Another thing you can work on is in hand manipulation skills. Having them pick up some beads and working on palm to fingertip translation. So up to the fingertips and dropping them in. You can also have them drop it into the cop. Another thing you can work on is your hand strength. So we have these resistive tongues having the child pick up different manipulatives and put them into the cup. With that you're also working on crossing midline and use the cup to work on bilateral coordination as well as crossing midline. So having the child stabilize the bin with their non dominant hands and then scoop across midline and put it into the cup. Another thing you're working on is your visual motor skill so you know you can prompt the child to look for a specific manipulative in the bin. Say we're using yellow dinosaur. OK, find the yellow dinosaur and they're scanning the bin, locating the dinosaur and picking it out with all of the different material in the bin. These are just a couple ways that you can use the sensory bin during your sessions.
