Our Managing Director Bonnie Chiu, Natsayi Sithole, Interim CEO at Renaisi-TSIP and Katie Fowler, CEO of The Social Innovation Partnership (TSIP) in this statement reflected on the alarming rise in racist, xenophobic, and Islamophobic violence across the UK, indicating that the violence is rooted in systemic racism and fueled by harmful political discourse. They highlight how outraged they are by these events, but are also motivated to reaffirm their commitment to the core missions and critically examine and strengthen their approaches to be genuinely anti-oppressive and effective in addressing systemic inequalities. Bonnie, Natsayi and Katie call on funders to support long-term resilience-building in targeted communities and to prioritise local, community-led initiatives. Our briefing following the roundtable event on the riots and islamophobic violence is now available for members on our community page. Login to download the briefing. Read about what Amanda Garrard Anthony Duerden and Baljit Basra had to say about the riots, the responses of their organisations and the legal remedies available to landlords. At HDN we believe that the role of housing organisations goes beyond just rejecting and condemning the actions of those involved in the wave of violence. This behaviour has been fuelled by hatred, Islamophobia and misinformation, which is in direct contrast to the values of a fair, just and inclusive society. We encourage the housing sector to play a leading role in the community response to this violent unrest – supporting those most affected, redoubling their efforts to maintain continuity, and playing their part in healing the harms caused by this violence. Boards and executive teams should show leadership and direction and this work form an important part of an organisation’s equality and diversity strategy. Altruism and humanity help us fight for a better world. On #WorldNGODay, we would like to underline the role of non-governmental organisations in raising awareness about the importance of promoting #HumanRights for all. In this sense, from EBU, we commit ourselves to keep advocating for a more inclusive and accessible society for blind and partially sighted people in Europe where equality and non-discrimination become key values.

Our communities have become increasingly disconnected due to social divisions, economic inequality, environmental and technological gaps, and growing emotional and mental isolation. To address this, individuals and organisations must join forces to rebuild a united and balanced global community. This effort requires recognising the inherent worth of every person and working toward a more just, compassionate, and inclusive world for all. Our recent articles delve into how acts of service, both by individuals and organisations, can help tackle many of today's social challenges: 1. Although the practice of social justice is widespread, it is not completely ingrained in societies. In the modern day and age everyone wants opportunities to advance themselves to a higher position of power. Social justice, if implemented properly, will give them a platform of fairness and equality which will result in even the unpolished gems of society to shine. #World_Day_of_Social_Justice #PR4U
