Altruism and humanity help us fight for a better world. On #WorldNGODay, we would like to underline the role of non-governmental organisations in raising awareness about the importance of promoting #HumanRights for all. In this sense, from EBU, we commit ourselves to keep advocating for a more inclusive and accessible society for blind and partially sighted people in Europe where equality and non-discrimination become key values.

Today, on May 17th, we mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). This day serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing fight for equality for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. While significant progress has been made, we face a growing anti-trans and anti-2SLGBTQIA+ movement seeking to erase our rights and dignity. This hateful rhetoric translates into real-world consequences. From discriminatory legislation to rising violence, our communities are under attack. Ahead of United Nations International Day of Social Justice tomorrow commit yourselves to this cause 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐲. We're reminded of the urgent need to foster fairer, more equitable societies globally. Tomorrow serves as a poignant reminder of our collective responsibility to address systemic issues such as poverty, discrimination, and inequality. The United Nations General Assembly rightly emphasises the indispensable link between social development, justice, peace, and security. 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬, 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐞𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞. In 2024, under the theme "𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐚𝐩𝐬, 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬," we are called upon to take action. Here's how we can contribute: 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: Educate ourselves and others about social justice issues, including modern slavery. Understand the profound impact of inequality on individuals and communities. 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞: Raise our voices for policies and practices that promote social justice. Support organisations and initiatives, like Ride For Freedom, dedicated to combating modern slavery and promoting human rights. 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞: Foster conversations with diverse voices. Listen actively, learn from others' experiences, and challenge stereotypes to build understanding and empathy. 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲: Recognise the importance of international collaboration in achieving social justice. Stand in solidarity with global efforts to combat modern slavery and uphold human rights. 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡: Advocate for policies that reduce poverty and inequality, ensuring that no one is left behind in our pursuit of progress. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲:Stand with marginalised communities and support movements fighting for justice and equality worldwide. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠. Today, while traveling back from my office I came across a lady bus conductor who collected the fare and announced the stations. Upon finding an opportunity I started to converse with her. According to her- she joined the work a month back. There were 25 lady staff trained but now only few are surviving. Some felt shy while others could not bear the struggle so left the job. 🗣️It's truly inspiring to encounter individuals like her who face challenges with courage and determination. Her willingness to overcome obstacles and provide for her family is commendable. She embodies the spirit of resilience and hard work. #International Day of #SocialJustice, is celebrated annually on February 20th. It aims to raise awareness about social justice issues such as #poverty, #inequality, and #discrimination, and to promote efforts towards creating a more just and #equitableworld. Our Managing Director Bonnie Chiu, Natsayi Sithole, Interim CEO at Renaisi-TSIP and Katie Fowler, CEO of The Social Innovation Partnership (TSIP) in this statement reflected on the alarming rise in racist, xenophobic, and Islamophobic violence across the UK, indicating that the violence is rooted in systemic racism and fueled by harmful political discourse. They highlight how outraged they are by these events, but are also motivated to reaffirm their commitment to the core missions and critically examine and strengthen their approaches to be genuinely anti-oppressive and effective in addressing systemic inequalities. Bonnie, Natsayi and Katie call on funders to support long-term resilience-building in targeted communities and to prioritise local, community-led initiatives. “Our partners and networks have been raising the alarm about systemic racism, injustice and violence for many years. “Systems change work needs deep, long-term investment and care in the most affected communities.” Together with other funder intermediaries in the UK, we are bringing together our networks, infrastructure and skills to focus on four key priorities. Read more in our joint letter with Funders for Race Equality Alliance, The Justice Together Initiative and Migration Exchange (MEX). 🚨 The Bulgarian Parliament has shockingly passed a new law banning LGBTIQ+ representation in schools, aligning with Russia’s oppressive anti-LGBTIQ+ ideology over European norms and values. Our Executive Director, Rémy Bonny, has been vocal about this alarming development, bringing it to the attention of the international media through Euronews, POLITICO Europe and The Independent. LGBTIQ+ people are the canary in the coal mine—this anti-democracy virus is spreading across Europe, and we need to stop it now. 👉 Help us continue our fight against this horrendous law by donating Today: https://lnkd.in/eEkFiPwc #LGBTIQ #HumanRights #Equality #Europe #DonateNow

What does it take to push for change in societies that often deny their own issues? Here are some experiences from the racial justice front line(s) in the #Nordics. ⤵️ 📌 As the voice of the anti-racism movement in Europe, our network —170+ organizations strong and growing— is at the heart of everything we do. Last year, we launched ENAR Regional Meetings to connect with our members across Europe, listen to their challenges, and build stronger coalitions to tackle them together. 🌍 Starting with the Nordic region, we want to bring forward the real experiences of activists and human rights defenders to shine light on what we face in our shared mission to #MakeRacismHistory. #AntiRacism #RacialJustice #Activism #Network
