In 2023, hospitals reported 1,411 sentinel events, or dire patient experiences, according to The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The most common of these patient safety events included falls, unintended retention of a foreign object, wrong surgery, suicide, and delay in treatment. The Joint Commission found the reasons for many of these sentinel events included failures in communication, inadequate staff training, and inadequate patient assessment, all of which are addressed in hospital teamwork culture. Teamwork and collaboration are critical. A top few benefits of care team collaboration and teamwork are indicated in the below infographic. #patientcare #healthcareautomation #patientoutcome

🎁 The gift of a simple but effective idea for post-operative care 🎁 Just in time for the gift-giving season, we’re delighted to share an innovative idea from Dave Duffy, Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, who is transforming post-operative follow-up care by using PKB to send personalised video messages to his patients. Easy to implement, he creates a short film briefing the patient on what’s happened, together with his guidance for their post-operative care. At the touch of a button the message is securely sent to them in their PKB health record, available to review whenever they like. An efficient, scalable solution, the results speak for themselves. With more informed and empowered patients there is a significant reduction in the need for follow-up appointments - an estimated 112.5 clinical hours can be saved every year for Mr Duffy, equating to the equivalent of 28 additional theatres. Unwrap (😉) all the details in this case study 👇 https://lnkd.in/eWBqX6Dh #Postoperativecare #Digitaltransformation #PersonalHealthRecord
