When I was 15, I was not inspired to use my bilingual skills to help educate others about Civics and Citizenship. He has a thirst for knowledge, a love for the Spanish language, culture, all things Latino, and a sinceredriving need to be in the service of others. To say that Samantha Lokos Koppelman and me are proud would be an understatement!!! Happy National Friendship Day! Latinos cherish the bonds of friendship deeply, valuing the warmth, loyalty, and support that come with it. Today, let’s celebrate the meaningful connections that enrich our lives and uplift our communities. Our connections often begin in our earliest years, forming the foundation for lifelong friendships. Remember to be kind, as the way we treat others can have a lasting impact on their lives and ours. #NationalFriendshipDay #CherishedFriendship #DíaNacionalDeLaAmistad #AmistadValiosa #ValoresLatinos #LatinoValues #FriendshipMatters #CelebrateConnections #WarmthAndSupport"

Have you heard about the term "neuroexpansive"? 🧠 This term rejects "neurodivergent" and its underlying ideologies, creating a space specifically for Black individuals with disabilities and building a new framework that puts attention on their intersectionality and unique experiences. Historically, Black and non-white populations, among others, have moulded language with new uses and meanings to reflect their experiences and reality genuinely. The term "neuroexpansive" is no different. This term is coined as a way to shed light on the idea that "Whiteness is not the center of our [Black] experiences. We do not divert from any “norm” or “standard” of white non/disabled body/minds. Blackness and disability ruminate in these discussions as a supplement or inclusion. This is not a DEI term for disability studies or disability justice language, but a rejection of Othering." Part of the work that I do with Vox Camerata is to hold space for members and volunteers to share concerns regarding their personal life challenges. Creating a culture of active listening is key for the well being of members, and this in turn, creates a foundation for longevity of participation for the people in the organization. #affectiveleadership #activelistening #advocacy #voxcamerata
In this blogpost, Vox Camerata’s founder and artistic director Dr. Shahril Salleh takes a moment to reflect on recent conversations with newer members, and how having a place and people to talk to is key in helping to find ways to overcome personal and familial challenges. #interfaith #interculture #community #singapore

Here's some thoughtful insights from kinship carer and longstanding campaigner for racial equity in kinship care, Sharon McPherson, who is co-founder of Families in Harmony. In this Sounddelivery Media article, she talks about #kinshipcare in Jamaica, the legacy of #Windrush and #barrelchildren and what lessons can be learned and shared. Lots to reflect on from her Churchill Fellowship programme about how to better understand the experiences of Black kinship carers, in particular those raising children in informal arrangements, through fostering respect and understanding of cultural identities. Have you ever noticed this on LinkedIn? In the section where you can list volunteer work, there is no cause to choose from on the drop down for Church, Faith or Religion. I checked the box for human rights because religion is a human right, although as a program coordinator for The Father's Challenge Weekend, children benefit, so I could have marked children. Why is this I wonder? #LinkedIn #VolunteerWork #HumanRights #Religion #CommunityService

Teach people from school of example for they learn from no other I give examples of relatable everyday people 3. Stories : Never make a point without telling a story but never tell a story without making a point.. #Unaweza ( yes You can) #ghetto #growth #grit #success

I had my baby boy 3 months ago. As an immigrant father bringing out baby in another country was overwhelming and overpowering. On the other hand, our lineage moved across seas and continents but with less support system and mechanism. In this mistified emotion running through my mind and heart.I read a book called "Brown Baby" by Nikesh Shukla. The free flowing memoir draws on race ,family and home . The book left me thinking about following questions : What happens when your baby is out in this white world?? When is the right time we talk about race or origin with our baby?? Why is it necessary to talk about route as well as root to your baby? Who are your baby's friend and who they look upto in Community, School and Country for support. Where does so-called inclusive and multicultural society exists?? How an emotion run through Father's life. The book is an excellent read and make you to think and ask questions 😀 😄
