As the world gears up for the grand spectacle of the Olympics 2024 in Paris, Bridgestone, a proud sponsor, opened the doors to an extraordinary opportunity within its own ranks.   An internal competition spanning across Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa, arranged by none other than my company, #Bridgestone. The challenge? Nominate a colleague, manager, or mentor who has been a guiding light in your career journey. Little did I know, that this seemingly ordinary act of appreciation would catapult me into the spotlight as a torchbearer for the Paris Olympics 2024!   They say the journey to success is paved with selfless acts and unwavering support. My story is a testament to just that. Countless moments spent uplifting and empowering my colleagues, without expecting anything in return, have now culminated in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.   Gratitude floods my heart as I extend a heartfelt thanks to every colleague who believed in me, who saw beyond the confines of our workplace and envisioned me carrying the Olympic torch through the streets of Paris. I could not imagine my life without a unified Europe, nor do I want to. I was born in Germany and have studied and worked in many European countries. Within my family, we even hold several, different European passports. Beyond my clearly personal reasons for supporting an open-minded Europe, I experience many benefits at work too: 🇪🇺 Europe enriches our social interactions and our workplace. 🇪🇺 Europe enables us to collaborate, across nations, to ensure the prosperity, security and sovereignty of our continent. 🇪🇺 Europe has the ability to ensure efficient and robust supply chains for advanced technologies. 🇪🇺 Europe fosters freedom of movement within member states, which helps to attract the best talent. ... to name just a few examples. That is not to say that everything is perfect. There is still much to be done at a European level, as we all know. Especially when it comes to bureaucracy and reporting obligations. MTU’s management board and works council will continue to make a constructive contribution. Because at the end of the day, you have to be in it to win it.
