Going plastic free in beauty does not just mean reinventing packaging - it means taking a really close look at what's in your formula. A LOT of beauty formulas include the ingredient polyethylene - it's plastic. And it's vegan. Yes: companies using plastic as an ingredient can say their product is vegan. Vermouth Beauty made a conscious decision to use the natural ingredient beeswax; our products aren't vegan. But when our customers receive a package from Vermouth Beauty, there's no plastic in the packaging OR in the formula. Take a look at what's arriving on your doorstep, and what you're putting on your skin. #plasticfree #cleanbeauty #femalefounders #zeroplastic

We're happy to share a new addition to our line, launching this November 17. In 2021 we set ambitious goals to lower our environmental footprint on 2 critical areas: the sourcing of our plant-based ingredients and the packaging we use for our products. While transitioning to PCR plastic bottles and refill pouches is a seemingly simple move, getting there required solving many head-scratchers: - getting ourselves educated on the actual impact of the many cosmetic packaging solutions that exist (think #lifecycleassessment) - going past the headlines and understanding that many popular solutions touted as "sustainable" actually come with significant hidden environmental impact before they even get into consumers' hands (think #aluminum packaging) - navigating the challenging high-cost / high-MOQ dilemma that many small brands face when looking to better their packaging - and many more... We want to extend a big thank you to all our partners who believe in and support our environmental goals, making it possible for us to take these steps: our ingredient and packaging suppliers, manufacturers, fillers, retail partners, editors and content creators... And a special thank you to Beauty Packaging Magazine for the highlight ⬇ And what's more: this is just a first step! Stay tuned in 2024 for exciting first-to-market packaging innovations from Babo Botanicals 💚 https://lnkd.in/e3cVpXmK

What’s 550 Million? That’s the number of empty shampoo bottles discarded every year in the US alone. Unfortunately, the convenience of these plastic containers comes at a hefty environmental cost. According to recent estimates, billions of shampoo bottles end up in landfills or incinerators around the world, contributing to the ever-growing problem of plastic pollution. The production of plastic shampoo bottles is a resource-intensive process that contributes significantly to carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and the global nature of the supply chain exacerbates the CO2 emissions associated with the shampoo industry .Moreover, the disposal of shampoo bottles also contributes to the proliferation of microplastics. As plastic bottles degrade over time, they break down into smaller particles, many of which are microscopic in size. These microplastics contaminate soil, water bodies, and even the air, posing potential threats to human health and the environment. While only a small fraction of those shampoo bottles (about 9%) are effectively recycled, the rest languish in landfills or find their way into oceans, causing severe harm to marine life and ecosystems. The Rise of Solid Shampoo Bars: A Sustainable Alternative Solid shampoo bars have been gaining momentum in the fight against plastic pollution and chemical contamination. Organica Eco Soaps’ compact shampoo bars eliminate the need for plastic packaging, offering a plastic-free and eco-friendly option, with minimal and compostable packaging, reducing the environmental impact from production to disposal. In addition, our Shampoo Bars contain natural ingredients, without harmful chemicals, reducing the introduction of pollutants into water systems. , which aligns with ethical and sustainable consumer preferences. And what’s even better, a single 3 oz shampoo bar can last 3 to 6 months, or about 3 shampoo bottles. If you would like to learn more, visit us at: https://lnkd.in/g32SCXtJ

I am someone who is into making homemade cosmetics. How can I apply ESG to my business? Environmental: Ingredients: Focus on natural, organic, and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Avoid ingredients with harmful environmental impacts (e.g., microbeads). Opt for minimal packaging and choose recycled or recyclable materials. Production: Implement water-saving practices during production (e.g., use measuring cups instead of running water). Minimize waste by utilizing all ingredients and practicing proper storage. Explore using energy-efficient appliances for tasks like blending or heating. Social: Clearly communicate your ingredients and sourcing practices to customers. Governance: Research your suppliers and ensure ethical labor practices throughout your supply chain. Ensure responsible waste disposal and minimize your environmental footprint. 🌱 Lynton is always very attentive to market sentiment. This is why the Lynton Skincare Range is cruelty and paraben free, using organic and natural ingredients. The packaging is just as environmentally friendly, using recyclable containers and bottles. 🌍 Not only that, but the packaging is also airless, meaning that the bottles are only as big as they need to be and provide a longer shelf-life to the products themselves. This reduces the amount of product going to waste, but also means that no excess material has been used to manufacture the packaging.
