--Senior Interior Designer, Execution Expert --- Ex Sales Manager at Livspace --- Ex Homlaner---Ex Jr. Architect at AG&AG --- Video Creator--- Professional Content Editor --- Freelancer
Future scopes: The increasing demand of residential and commercial spaces will also manipulate the need of a designer in the upcoming market. The newly emerged startups are also open to provide internships and job opportunities, however, as per my experience, it will take years to convert Kolkata to a pure corporate hub, some pan India based startups like Livespace, Homelane have already stepped in the scenario in the recent years, empowering the future of Modular industry in Kolkata. Survival Strategy: The first thing an interior designing student need is depth of knowledge and practical experience. Pursuing internship and part time/full time jobs often alows to apply the theoretical knowledge to a practical scenario. The next powerful tool is networking, good connection with industry professionals will surely help a student to get opportunities for workshops and internships. LinkedIn itself is a great platform for that. Always try to stay updated with the latest design trends, materials and technologies, through design blogs and industry publications to enhance your skills and creativity. The last thing is keep learning, an artist or a designer should never have any limit, it is a process of continuous learning, understanding and perceiving those ideas in a real application. You have to love what you do first and you will obviously get the reciprocation. Is it a right career to choose? Yes. Choosing a career in interior design in Kolkata is promising, especially with the city's modern urban development. Increasing demand for innovative residential and commercial spaces, coupled with a growing middle class, presents numerous opportunities. Students can explore diverse design styles while contributing to the city’s evolving aesthetic and functional landscape. #KolkataInteriorDesign #KolkataInteriors #InteriorDesignKolkata #KolkataDesign #InteriorStylingKolkata #KolkataDecor #KolkataDesigners #HomeDecorKolkata

Recruiters say you don't have experience, get experience first. But as a fresher, how do you get experience? It's a cycle: to get experience, you need work, but to get work, you need experience. Internships might seem like a solution, but some companies don't consider them as real experience. So, how do you break this cycle? For me, experience means being the daughter of a small businessman from a small town, working hard to earn an Interior Design degree from a college in Jaipur, and securing internships. Then COVID happened, and that was an experience too. Graduating in 2020 with no jobs available, the country shut down, and my family worried. I felt depressed, questioning how I would achieve my dreams. Times changed, and I started working with a friend as a Junior Interior Designer. Eventually, I decided to freelance and sought to learn more about design, applying to various design colleges. I got accepted into MIT Institute of Design, Pune for Product Designing. This brought more experiences: working hard, making new friends, meeting inspiring people with diverse perspectives, and dreaming even bigger. Now, I'm back to applying for jobs. No one seems to notice my 8 years of experience hustling, falling, and getting up again and again. Companies ask for experience but overlook the life experiences that truly shape us. #justasundaythought

Important tips for young architects.
Banarasi • Detail-Driven Architect • Daylighting Specialist • Educator & Career Mentor • Passionate About Creating Bright, Airy, and Eco-friendly Spaces
𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗗𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 ? Insights from My Lecture at IPS Academy, Indore. I had an engaging session with 4th-year architecture students at IPS Academy, Rajendra Nagar, Indore, alongside my design partner, Ar. Ravi Panse. Our message: Encouraging them to broaden their horizons beyond traditional architectural practice, make informed career choices, and develop essential skills in the early stages of their careers. Here’s a quick recap of the key insights we shared: 𝟭. 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 Architecture opens the door to numerous career paths. We encouraged students to explore areas like writing, project management, animation, digital marketing for architects, and design research—fields where design thinking leads to exciting, innovative opportunities. 𝟮. 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀 Choosing the right internship can make a huge difference. Example : If you’re passionate about landscape-focused design, find firms that specialize in it. Aligning your internship with your thesis project can offer a deeper, more focused learning experience. 𝟯. 𝗚𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 I emphasized the importance of spending at least two years in architectural practice before making any major career decisions. This period is essential for refining your skills and gaining the confidence to make informed choices about your future. 𝟰. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗺𝘀 Working in smaller firms (with 5-20 employees) exposes young architects to all aspects of the process, from design to project management. This holistic experience is critical for developing a well-rounded skill set early on. 𝟱. 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲: 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆 Architecture is a fulfilling profession, but mastery takes time. Instead of comparing salaries with other fields, focus on building your skills during the early years. Your long-term success will be built on the foundation of expertise and dedication. 𝟲. 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 Finally, I emphasized that work-life balance at this stage is about finding joy in your work. Immerse yourself in your craft, do additional reading, and take time to travel and gather inspiration on weekends. These early years of hard work and exploration will shape the rest of your career. Architecture offers endless possibilities. Be strategic with your choices, patient in your journey, and dedicated to your craft. Success comes to those who embrace the process and commit to lifelong learning. P.S. If you’re seeking help with your career in design related fields, feel free to DM me! Please reshare.
