#FlashbackFriday Earlier this week, the Asian Pacific Fund was proud to join the California Black Freedom Fund, legal experts, advocates, and philanthropic leaders to launch the Legal Education, Advocacy, and Defense (LEAD) for Racial Justice Initiative. "Organizations dedicated to serving marginalized communities of color have long played a safety net role, countering systemic inequities through culturally competent support and capacity building. The Asian Pacific Fund is a proud supporter of the LEAD for Racial Justice Initiative. The Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities will not be used as a wedge against other communities of color. We are not immune from attacks and stand in solidarity with other racial justice organizations to navigate the path forward together,” - Carolyn Wang Kong, APF President and Executive Director. LEAD aims to provide robust and relevant legal education, and accessible tools to nonprofit organizations serving communities of color to help them fully understand the legal landscape and their ability to conduct and invest in vital racial justice work. The issue of Human Trafficking is a major problem in many parts of the world, including the USA, Canada, and the Caribbean. Shockingly, African Black Human Traffickers in Canada: Canadian men between the ages of 18 and 27 are dominating this industry. It's time for the Black community to take action, including non-profit organizations, law enforcement, schools, and related groups, particularly in Quebec, Ontario, Ottawa, Cornwall, Windsor, and other areas. We cannot let any more young Black lives be lost to this terrible practice. Our recent report revealed that a native Canadian woman was discovered in a Caribbean brothel, and over 83 brothels are operating in the Caribbean. Let's work together to combat human trafficking and protect the most vulnerable in our society. Join us in raising awareness about this critical issue and taking action to help end human trafficking. Stand Together for Justice: Sonya Massey✊🏾! We are deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic death of Sonya Massey, a 36-year-old African American woman, who was unjustly killed in her home by police officers. This incident, captured on body camera, is yet another stark reminder of the systemic issues plaguing our society. We cannot afford to remain silent when such injustices occur. Each of us has a role to play in advocating for change and ensuring that every individual, regardless of their race, is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. What if this was your mother, sister, daughter, niece, or friend? At Nonprofit Fundraising Management (NFM), we are committed to supporting efforts that address these critical issues—it’s one of the primary reasons we do what we do: support Black Churches in their efforts to increase education, health, prosperity, safety, and growth in their communities and beyond. Juneteenth derives its name from June 19, 1865, when U.S. General Gordon Granger informed the enslaved individuals of Galveston, Texas, that they were officially free. Two-and-a-half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, Granger’s decree marked the end of slavery in Confederate states. Established in 2020, on the Juneteenth holiday, Black Resilience in Colorado Fund is more than a fund.
